Who does it? Like it? How so you fill your bin up and the get the water OUT?seems to me dumping it over to empty the water would be bad.

Place a weight on top of your substrate. Place tub in the bath. Run water out of the tap into your tub. Allow water to run out the FAE holes a bit. Turn off tap and let sit an hour or 2 partially submerged. Then carefully tip tub on its side and allow to drain 1 hour. Be careful your substrate block doesn't fall out at this point. A 80 degree angle would be optimal. Works great.

Also i put PVC pipes through the FAE holes to keep my cake submerged.

Would adding a quart of water at time until your substrate no longer absorbs any be a good idea?

I dont know crazie, i would just prefer to add a lil water at a time then have to move the tub into unwanted positions where the sub could possibly fallout. as far as sterile goes i think plain tap water can be used for dunking anything

Yah do that! Great idea. But i do take my sub out n clean tub and pick pins. Same size tub right inside ur grow one and flip upside down. No cracks. Which i kinda don't mind because I've gotten sum biggins from a centered crack sub

I don't bother with the pins. With the PVC in place I can flip the tub over no problem and it holds. It gets a little iffy after the second flush though. That's where i've had cracking

You can super-stuff your 4 side holes with polyfil extra firm, then use wooden dowels and run them through the holes on the sides. Then trickle water over it in the bathtub for 2 hours. It should run above the substrate level. If it doesn't you don't have the polyfil stuffed tight enough.
to empty it just brace in the middle with your hands. and dump it. it isn't hard.

If your bulk is fully colonized, you can touch it (carefully). Just wash your hands before you touch it and it will be okay. Myc. have its own "immune system", as long as it is healthy and strong.
