Seatbelt violation ends in LSD arrest
A man pulled over for not wearing his seatbelt was charged with drug trafficking after Walton County sheriff’s deputies discovered LSD, Ecstasy (MDMA) and other illegal drugs.
Deputies stopped Colorado resident Daniel James Stoffel, 22, on Interstate 10 near mile marker 88 on March 23. Ella, a narcotics canine, alerted the deputies of probable cause to search Stoffel’s vehicle.
“During the search, the canine unit seized what appeared to be one ounce of marijuana, 21 ‘hits’ of LSD, and two grams of MDMA and drug paraphernalia,” said Mike Morrison, spokesman for the Walton County Sheriff’s Office in a media release.
Stoffel was charged with one count of trafficking in LSD, a first-degree felony; possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, a third-degree felony; possession of Ecstasy, a third-degree felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a first-degree misdemeanor.
The WCSO canine unit consists of four teams who assist in the apprehension of suspects and the seizure of illegal narcotics. In 2010, the team recovered two stolen vehicles and seized $40,000 in cash and five vehicles. The unit also seized 10 pounds of marijuana, 160 ecstasy pills, 45 pounds of cocaine and two ounces of methamphetamine.

Exactly. And he probably consented to the search. I think most people do, not knowing that they should say no.

"Ella, a narcotics canine, alerted the deputies of probable cause to search Stoffel’s vehicle."
Pretty sure it doesn't matter if you give your consent.

i like how the government treats LSD like the devil. its quite stupid and funny. and other drugs not as bad (i mean i understand the weed not being bad) but i think MDMA is worse for you than LSD. (depends on how much your taking it i guess though but who takes LSD everyday? i know HELLA people who abuse the fuck out of MDMA).

You would be surprised. I have been in a car with many years of prison on the line and the driver not wear his seat belt because he said it's uncomfortable.

20hits of acid, 20g weed, 2g of MDMA? Thats not a drug dealer's stash, sounds like what my band would be using for a weekend.
Are these people real? Trafficking?
Next thing you know they'll be claiming trafficking for having weed in your system. Got to fill up those fucking prisons, we let too many rapists and violent scum bags out

What made you acquiesce to that kind of behavior?

The kid was looking for that his stash because the dumb bitch driving decided to hide it, and he had to take off his seat belt to do so. So when she passed a cop, they got pulled over. Now, who is dumb enough to pass a cop holding that kind of weight? She was, obviously. And when he stepped out to answer questions, she told another officer about what was in the car. So she consented to the search, not him. The drug dog didn't find shit, it's just a lie used to promote the use of more drug dogs (which leads to more $$$ for the police fundings)
Moral: don't trust blonde bitches.

I bet you he was wearing a seatbelt. If a cop suspects you they'll pull you over and then claim you weren't wearing a seatbelt (he was probably going right around maybe a little under the speed limit while looking like a stereotypical young drug user.) When a cop says you weren't wearing a seatbelt, it's impossible to argue that you were. Their dashcam won't show that you weren't so it's basically your word against theirs. I was stopped when driving into a druggie neighborhood. I was there to give my cousin a videogame for Christmas. I should note that I'm from Delaware and he lives in Maryland, so not only was I going into a druggie neighborhood I was an out of state person going into a druggie neighborhood. They told me I wasn't wearing a seatbelt and I was and always do. Instead of arguing with them I told them my info (I didn't have an ID at the time) and they looked it up and said I was clean. It was obvious though, that they were pulling me over in hopes of finding paraphernalia or maybe even drugs. I hate cops.

He wasn't wearing one, but you're right about the looks of him: Grateful Dead tie-dye with crazy dreads will get you pulled over. That's probably why they suspected drugs. And the trafficking charges are ridiculous. Note to others: do not dose on anything other than paper, the weight can get you in trouble.
