Glass Fishtank Terrarium :)

So, I have constructed my glass tank (soon to be tanks) Fruiting Chamber
I have a 24" x 12" x 18" glass fish tank with a piece of plexi-glass cut to fit the top of it.
Drilled about a half inch hole in the top for the where I put a plastic tube running from my humidifier into the chamber.
Pics to come...
as of right now, the chamber is BASICALLY sealed off... and with the humidifier running, I can get it from 90-100 % humid... and the temp is about at 72F
installing the lights tomorrow... which I'm hoping will raise the temps a LITTLE bit... but my main question is, Is my Cool Mist Humidifier enough to keep a good enough FAE?
If not, Its completely accessible to open up to fan/mist ect...
but the other question is... when I go to put cakes in, or whatever in... what should I put it on?
plastic lids? some other kind of stand??
any suggestions?

It depends. Do you want to do a modified monotub? Do you want to tray? Or do you want to cake?
-With the monotub style, you won't need any stands. -For the cakes you can just put them on aluminum foil or directly on the perlite. -For a tray you can use shot glasses, food cans, even rocks would work.

what tek are you using?
glass fish tanks are possibly one of the worst fruiting chambers.
especially one that is completely sealed up.

but I wanna use a fish tank! haha, I figured I would try and do my own tek, and mimic a reptile like cage... since their temps/humidity have to be good... so figured it might work?

temps/humidity...that is al nice,but...no FAE=NO shrooms...at least no healthy, strong, big fruits... Go for the SGFC!

ive thought of this a million times, point is it just wont work as well as common fc methods no matter what. if its sealed you have no fae, if its not the humidity is going to be off.

unless you have a glass cutter and can cup holes in the sides.

Interesting. It sounds like you're going to ignore the number one pinning/fruiting parameter in favor of what's not important. Glass terrariums were never good performers for a good reason. That's why they've been abandoned. RR

i imagine people used glass aquariums out of necessity...there is absolutely no reason to use a glass aquarium today...regarding your set up, fan. fan...fan.

aquariums CAN perform ok, but compared to the sg they suck. but if your hell bent on using one, treat it as a pmp and add an airpump.

Thank you all so much for all of the advice
I think I'll invest in making an awesome SGFC to have as well, buuuut I'm gonna do the impossible... and pimp out this glass SO good that it works amazing... It might cost me a TON of money for some really nice fancy pump, or something, but I'm gonna make it awesome!!! haha, maybe I'll invest in a CO2 meter... so I know if I'm getting the right amount of FAE...
Thank again everyone
I'll be sure to update and such once I pimp out these glass chambers... if I can get it right O:)
Maybe an air-filter... sealed off, and piping itself into the chamber? logically that should pump in "fresh air" and maybe another 'vacuum' type pump... that goes to the bottom of the tank... so kinda 'suck out' the co2...
prob gonna cut a square in the top of the plexi-glass too and put a some tyvek covering on it to help it out a little so its not AIR TIGHT or anything

Well you are going to need to get a glass cutter then, and a sander to smooth out the holes after you cut them.
Aquariums are really not necessary when sterilite bins cost 5 bucks at the store.

i'm using a glass fish tank right now, the trick is to flip it upside down on top of a plexi glass piece with holes in it, slide the whole thing off the edge of a table so air can enter via buttom holes and then get vynil tubing from bottom hole through aquarium on top of drip shield, forced humid air will create enough air exchange and won't need to drill holes through the glass, any attempts will probably crack the glass (unless you do it with specialty bit in water).
I've done this and so can you, the only thing is that once you have it sitting upside down the top is ceiled obviously and you would have to lift the whole thing to harvest mushrooms, unless you knock out that top glass and order yourself a seperate 5 ml so you can take it off conveniently - matter of comfort - glass can be heavy to lift.

Thanks bro! Any chance you got pics of your setup anywhere? Interested in seeing what ya got and how it looks...

a glass cutter won't break the glass, it will cut it.....
I would make a fish-tank monotub, use the plexi as the lid. That way you can reach down into it.

I'm not too familiar with mono-tubs :\ I always get confused with making the substrate and what to mix with it ect...
no matter HOW many times I read up on TEKs, going from easy-ass BRF jars to bulk TEKs... theres just something I don't understand about it all :\ I think its mainly the procedure and what 'type' of ingrediants to get and such... i dunno :\
I'm workin on it tho... since BRF jars are just a PAIN, and bulk is SOO much easier... My plan for this grow I'm workin on now is BRF-like rocks... Only different ingredients and such...

This is exactly what I want to do. If only I had the money.
Glass drill bits would work too, but I would rather use a glass cutter. Don't buy a cheap ass one either.
