Came across this lovely cup fungus while walking in the woods today:



I believe it is Sarcoscypha coccinea.

the scarlet elf makes a lovely garnish filled with an oil or sauce for dipping, recommended dont eat, just garnish, maybe not even that, tho ive never had a problem, tho i guess there edibility is unknown...?

I found quit a few large scarlets cups apprx 3 to 4 inches wide while hiking in the woods last week. They are absolutly beautiful Happy Spring :smile: No Pictures just a spontaneous hike that resulted in finding quite a few of these, some funky jelly fungi, lichens, and some sort of ergot on a small shrub it was really strange. Well once where Im at stops raining I will have to go take some pictures.
