Wait a second...

What exactly am I looking at?

today's right? I haven't been on that site in a long time but I used to check it everyday. Thanks for the reminder

I have an old 80's telescope that's pretty fun to take out and use just packing bowls on the backporch twisting knobs to try and find stars. I really wish I had one that hooked to my laptop so I could sync and just have a motor find them for me.

Aww, really?  I think doing a manual alignment and twisting the knobs is part of the fun!

I have a small 4' reflector on a equatorial mount.  Ive been scoping out craigslist for a 6 or 8 inch one, but they all have motors and I want gears.

It's fun to search randomly and tracking the stars can be a little tricky as they move. It'd be nice to be like I wanna look at this so and so and be able to find it instantly though..

The ones closer to the horizon put out some of the coolest spectrum's of light through my scope it was mindblowingly amazing

I prefer an equatorial mount.  I dont understand why anyone would use a non-motorized altitude/azimuthal mount.  ??

That's an awesome picture. I really like it.

I used to have an 8 inch Dob but I sold it when I move. I miss it, I have been thinking about getting another one but I live in the city and the skies are always terrible, probably wouldn't be worth it.

Minnesota Astronomical Society has some public viewing nights that I can hit up.

I'm sure that would be cool and all, but I don't think I'm going to drop 300 or so bucks to do solar viewing. I can't really see it becoming one of my passions like my love of the night sky is.
