US already using napalm, CNN admits

Isn't napalm prohibited under the Geneva Convention? What is Rumsfeld whining about?
Excerpt from CNN Report Protecting Iraq's oil supply From Martin Savidge CNN Saturday, March 22, 2003
"We were up moving into the attack positions with the ground forces as they were preparing to head into southern Iraq. They met some resistance up there at the Kuwaiti-Iraq border. Well, that was quickly resolved. They called in Tomahawk strikes and airstrikes that went on all night long.
There is a lookout there, a hill referred to as Safwan Hill, on the Iraqi side of the border. It was filled with Iraqi intelligence gathering. From that vantage point, they could look out over all of northern Kuwait.
It is now estimated the hill was hit so badly by missiles, artillery and by the Air Force, that they shaved a couple of feet off it. And anything that was up there that was left after all the explosions was then hit with napalm. And that pretty much put an end to any Iraqi operations up on that hill.
Then this morning they airlifted in U.S. military forces that now hold that vantage point. So, all last night there was an intense artillery, air and missile bombardment throughout the southern part of Iraq. And that is what paved the way for the ground forces to begin pushing in."

But you guys don't seem to understand. Using banned weapons is okay...as long as we're the people using them. Jeez, think!!

Too true...too true.... And remember terrorists are brown skinned, islamic, and wear turbans on thier heads. So with that logic, it only makes sense for white people to use them against evil terrorists. Dont worry, they can only do good in our hands...

I don't think so. Napalm was banned under a seperate treaty in 1980, the US never signed.

Oh, that's cool then, go ahead. Sorry for the disturbance, I should never have mentioned it.
But what are you going to say about the Iraqi suicide bombings, for example? I'm not sure they ever signed a treaty banning those... specially if the suicide bombers are not even Iraqi's.

It was the UN that banned Napalm...
seems kindof hypocritical that the US should go to war over a resolution being broken (that didnt call for war as a result), yet were breaking the same rules.

This is where respect gets lost rather quickly. I merely answered a question as to the use of napalm vs the Geneva Convention. Where did you see me say it was OK to use it or that it should be used?
And in case you missed it swifty, the homicide bombers are DELIBERATELY targeting civilians. Are you suggesting that's what is being done in Iraq?

The UN has outlived it's usefulness. And just because it bans something doesn't mean those who didn't sign have to obey. 1441 may not have specifically called for war, but it didn't rule it out either. Or should Saddam merely have been spanked?

As the U.S. opted out of the 1980 treaty banning incendiary weapons they're not breaking any rules are they? Still, could be considered rather hypocrytical in the way burning people alive with Napalm is somehow acceptable but fast acting chemical weapons aren't.

Pretty devastating rebuttal. Actually there are a lot more than just me who feel that way, and since the US has started back to the right, I think there'll be a lot more as time goes by.

Sure, but when you lead the way into war for something you dont do yourself, it looks foolish.

You didn't get my point. I wasn't talking about suicide bombers in Israel or elsewhere, but about those who attack the 'coalition' troops invading Iraq. They're DELIBERATELY targeting soldiers. Only one incident (4 casualties) to date, but probably many to go.
Or are you suggesting the invasion forces are civilians who just happen to wear a battledress?
