What do you think? Still-air / mostly clean room for cheap asses

I'm testing this out again tonight, and I will take pics too. here's my idea:
I wanted a clean space to work in open air without having to build anything crazy.
Supplies: 10'x25' Poly/Vinyl Sheeting Tape or Caulk Clorox Clean-Up (the bleach kind) 70% Iso Oust Clean coveralls (i like the kind with a hood)
Since my kitchen has a linoleum floor and lots of easy to clean surfaces, I measured the doorways (my kitchen has two) and the size of the window.
I cut pieces of sheeting the length and width of the doors and the window, plus about 3" extra on each side. For the window piece, I also made sure it ran 6-9" below the bottom of the window.
My kitchen is kept clean to begin with, but regardless, I moved the garbage out of the room, I swept and then cleaned the hell out of the surfaces with clorox- counters, floor, stove, sink, everything. I moved the stove and fridge and cleaned under them as well.
I turned off the heat, fans, and anything else that would disturb the air.
I attached the plastic sheeting with masking tape to the doors and window. The idea is to eliminate any drafts in or out of the room.
I had a piece of sheeting left over that perfectly covered my sink and coffeemaker and then some.
I set up my table and cleaned the hell out of it with clorox.
I sprayed liberal amounts of oust all around the room.
I left and showered, brushed my teeth, and put on heavy duty coveralls. I use the kind intended for a single use during painting, the kind with a hood. I put on nitrile gloves and a respirator (I use a P100), and washed my gloves with ISO.
I returned to the sealed room and sprayed it again with gratutious oust, waited a minute or two, and commenced to working.
In theory, this seems like it should work well. I'll find out in a couple weeks, but what do you guys think?

That sure is a lot of work when a $5 glovebox is equally effective, but I respect your efforts.

This whole thing cost like $20. I think the hour it takes to measure and cut and the 5 min set up and take down is worth the mobility and speed. If I need to mix up bulk sub with spawn and work with large amounts of each, I don't want to worry about miffing it up in a glovebox cause my hands are awkwardly placed

People spawn to bulk in open air.
Are you getting bad contams during or before the first flush?

I live in an old place thats got mold spores rampant thru the air.
this is my first shot at doing bulk. I figured it can't hurt to have a clean environment to do it in. I take it substrate doesn't contam as easy as spawn?

I also want to be able to inoc my spawn bags in open air with as little chance of messing it up as possible. Doing up WBS is a lot of work lol.

Fully colonized spawn and substrate (coir/verm usually) rarely contaminate during mixing. I've seen plenty of people mix in open air. The times you have to be careful are during inoculation and harvest (harvest to a lesser extent).
You can inoculate from an LC or spore syringe in open air if you're doing bulk. Silicon port on lid + alcohol pad = winnar. Now if you're doing cakes that's a different story....

with an LC syringe through an RTV port...using filter patch bags of WBS.
and good to know about the lesser risk of contam. I still think it's nice to have a clean air space to work in just to minimize risk and it really wasn't expensive or difficult.

You wrapped a room in plastic and shot LC. That's like putting a condom up your nose and then having sex.

seriously tho...no one has said whether this would be an effective still air room or not.
i didn't mean to start a debate over the validity of it vs other options. altho i have learned something new.

Depends on how effective you want it to be..
In theory it should be very effective.. Assuming you follow good procedures on sterilizing the needle, substrate, jars, etc.. Only one way to find out.
