Short, fat and heavy
    #14198472 - 03/28/11 03:36 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Hey guys, I am growing out some malabars in my GH.  the fruits I am getting are short (less than 2 inches usually) and heavy (each one weighs about .7 to 1 gram cracker dry).

They are in 6 quart sweater boxes, made with damions 50/50.

They colonized grat, and had a SUPER monster pinset...its just that the fruits wont grow taller.

The RH is 83 right now, using a humidity controller.  At this humidity, the bases are no longer covered in white fuzzy myc, but they arent getting bigger as I had hoped.  at 93% humidity, it seems like they might get a little bigger but are covered in fuzz.

i have been inconsistent with fannign and misting, as I guess Im still learning how...i was underwatering, then overwatering, now i think im underwatering again.

my best guess is lack of substrate moisture....if so, how do I fix this?  they seem to dry out after just a couple days in my FC.

There are a lot of factors that contribute to this. i.e. humidity, genetics, sub depth

It was all a dream...

Sub depth is like 4 inches.  Humidity is set at 83 but goes as high as like 88 during misting.  Genetics....definitely.  I had some golden teachers in the same space that looked "normal".

Here are the fatties, this is still first flush, after I have already taken about 1/2 ounce dry off it.
