Maybe a good massage or something?
My back has felt gnarled before where it felt like I needed to lie down and someone steam roll over me to get out the knots.

Lol chiropractors are the biggest joke in the orthopedic/spinal injury field. All doctors lol about them, but when they help people psychologically get over the pain it's a good thing so they just lol amoung each other. It's actually a huge inside joke that most people don't know about.
I would go to a PAIN SPECIALIST. Who would have thought? Avoid opiates for as long as possible or all together. Go to pain doctor and try non-narcotic options and you have to give each course of therapy at least 60 days. These things don't resolve themselves. Make doctor aware you want to avoid opiates and they will work well with you.

Well I'm definitely not fat. I exercise an hour a day and have good posture. Like I said it all started round 18 when my wisdoms came in so I'm praying that's the cause. It could be an anxiety issue too I guess because I have bad anxiety and my body tends to lock up but I don't exactly have access to anxiety meds.

I herniated my lower disc about three years ago. I ignored it for a while it got better but then I re injured it. I went to the doctor and he wanted to do injections into my lower back. So I tried and it sucked and really didn't help too much. Then I went to another doctor and he couldn't believe that my original doctor didn't recommend physical therapy. I was skeptical but decided to give it a try.
I went to a physical therapist three times a week and did back exercises 2x a day on my own the other days. Within two months my back is 95% better. It still hurts sometimes but now I just do back exercises 1x a day and it keeps it feeling pretty strong and pain free. Getting my core/abs strong was a main components in the pain relief. So I would recommend trying out physical therapy.

can a doctor actually *do* anything about back problems besides give you the runaround? i'm too young for this shit. it's like something feels "out of place" about 3/4 up my spine but nothing fixes it, it's a constant pain everyday. anyone have any advice?
doctors are a complete joke when it comes to pain meds. Unless you had surgery, you aint getting any. Especially if you're young
Come down to FL, we gots plenty of pain clinics down here. they'll hook you up

Was mentioned a bunch and you said you work out, but strengthen your back more. Try stretching too cause it could be tight leg/but muscles. Back bridges (where you lie on your back then lift your self up on all fours)are nice too

You mean like pigeon toed or something.
or like me...
I walk a weird way where I wreck shoes over months making the insides grind away, making them un even from inside to ouside. After so many months my back starts hurting. Of course I also one leg higher up in my hip so I am about a 1/2 inch off.
The last pair of shoes by the time I got rid of them my back hurt so bad. New shoes... nice back.

That' doesn't matter at all. Unless you have been doing exercises for you back then you really don't know how effective physical therapy can be. It's probably the best thing people can do for back injuries and they teach you how to do it yourself so after a couple months you don't have to keep paying/going and can do it yourself.
