Dream Catcher
    #1417159 - 03/29/03 05:44 PM (21 years, 4 days ago)

Dream Catcher is one the best movies ive seen in a while. It most definatlys make you think.

Im posting this under the philosiphy fourm due to the fact that this movie contains soo much philosiphy.

At first this movie confused me, but i get it now. All's i can say is WOW, in the end the movie is symbolic in good and evil; very much so like the yin-yang.

The battle of the paroh-looking alien (duddas), agianst the invading snake aliens ( Mr. Grey, the red desease, snake, *ufo-type alien*) but in the end they are the same.

i had to see it twice to really get it. The first time i saw it i was high, and i just didn't get it. This time i wasn't stoned, and could peice it together better.

This movie also contains the philosiphy of "theres a differece in knowing the path, and walking the path"

As for the indian charm "dream catcher", in the end it shows it in mid-air scattered in red. The purpose of it was to ward of nightmares, but in end you kinda learn the lesson "you can't destroy evil" for evil is nessisary for good. Like you can't destroy the nightmare, cuz nightmares are essintial. Also many times they were talking about the dream warehouse/the dream window (they didn't mention the dream window but frequently they showed it as if the whole movie (in real life shots) was a dream contained in the dream warehouse) Like a dream in a dream.

5 shrooms for this movie!

Damn, sounds like about everything this movie I disagree with

you can't destroy evil" for evil is nessisary for good
nonsense, there is no such thing as good or evil. We just judge things relatively against other things and we say, "that's the worst thing I've seen in the world so it will be my benchmark for evil"

The battle of the paroh-looking alien (duddas), agianst the invading snake aliens ( Mr. Grey, the red desease, snake, *ufo-type alien*) but in the end they are the same.
This alien abduction theme is getting old and crusty but hell invading alien snakes sound good to me lol.

Like you can't destroy the nightmare, cuz nightmares are essintial.
I haven't had a nightmare for years, they are not essential to me.

What I really wanna know is if the "Final Flight of The Osiris" was any good.

I read the book and was throughly satisfied. I heard from one person the movie was so bad they walked out. I dont think it could possibly be that bad, I'll waite till it comes out on video though.

Reading the book did make me think about a lot of stuff though. I found the alien's [Mr.Gray's] perspective on emotion very interesting. How it hated having to feel these human emotions creep over him, but at the same time enjoyed them.

"nonsense, there is no such thing as good or evil"

I think know what you mean, the way i see it is if such a thing does exist it would be perception. Do you mean that due to the fact that it is perception there for not a means of identification?

Quote:

paroh-looking alien (duddas),

Im not sure about what it was when it changed, but i thought i looked like that or a cobra.

The animatrix was cool though not much happened in it. Its only the first of the nine in a series. It was all in computer animation, (very detailed)

True - i looked it up on the net, and saw some shitty reviews.

I liked it due to the fact that it wasn't your ordinary dull movie; like the matrix it forces one to think. Maybe thats why most people didn't like it.

Yeah, I've found that most movies I enjoy, the average person hated. Probably because they want all action, guns, explosions and such; why think, just mindlessly watch. The Matrix was different though because it had enough action to hold even the dullest bumbkin's attention.

nonsense, there is no such thing as good or evil. We just judge things relatively against other things and we say, "that's the worst thing I've seen in the world so it will be my benchmark for evil" "

Kinda like if a guy skins live puppies and it brings him orgasmic feelings, we might see it as evil, but he sees it as good because of the pleasure derived from the act.

ya know chodamonky they didn't even talk about good or evil. that was just something i got out of it. The only reason i even mentioned good and evil is because the two aliens in then end formed a yin-yang (imo).

its like they hint at god in the movie, like this quote:

"We should be singing his praises-not contimplating what universe!?"
