Flip a pinning cake?

Hello All - So there is this mushroom PF Cake somewhere and it is pinning very well, only the pins are all coming from the bottom of the cake. There are no pins forming ontop, I imaging the mycelium is to thick? Anyway my question is can I flip this cake over that has pins growing off it as we speak in hope that I can get more pins to start growing else where other than right underneath? Thanks for any help you can provide! - Mushyman

thats odd for it to start pinning at the bottom of the cake ::scratches head:: i thought that light is what induces pinning. Did you expose light to the bottom or something?

light does induce pinning but the pinning sites seem to be primarily determined by available water. it is most likely pinning from the bottom/ends because the verm stockpile on the "end" is a great water reservoir. you can double end case to encourage more even pinning and you can also dunk your cakes as well. dunking rehydrates the cake in an "overall" fashion.
