THE WAY OF THE SHAMAN
by Michael Harner
"Harner received his Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley in 1963. In 2003 he received an honorary doctorate in shamanic studies from the California Institute of Integral Studies. In 2009 two sessions on shamanism were given in his honor at the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association."
"According to author Daniel Noel, while at UC Berkeley Harner sat on Carlos Castaneda's dissertation committee; Castaneda's dissertation was "Sorcery: A Description of the World," which he later published with few changes as Journey to Ixtlan."
He is also the founder of the "Foundation for Shamanic Studies" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
..."Harner takes us on a personal odyssey to the source of shamanic healing: one's innermost self. Step by step he leads the reader through simple techniques and excercises to achieve altered states of consciousness without drugs -- the shaman's way to profound psycho-physical fitness and curing..."
Sounds interesting.
I just found this book today, has anyone read it?

Cool encyclopedia, bro. LOL

yeah i checked that out, it has some cool thangs in there.
i was readin' that book earlier while noddin' on some thangs and basically the book talked to me directly like it was god. it felt pretty shamanic.
i would pass out
then wake up with the book in my hand and the first words i read were "wake up" and htangs like that
that contniued on for a bit, and it was just overall doin thangs
i didn't get very far.
but the book focuses more on the healing aspect instead of the sorcery aspect of shamanism. it has a pretty cool ayahuasca experience in there.
BTW a mexican friend of mine told me that "Nagual" is pro-nounced "Now-Wall" or somethang like that
the g is silent or somehtnag.

Yup. It is explained the same way in casteneda books. I read those along time ago. I bet if I read it again, I would notice a lot more stuff.
Basically I remember the 4 winds that were each represented by a woman, as well as the abyss, Don Juan and Don Genero and cleaning off your tonal.
I took it as a fairy tale then, but nowadays, if I ever get around to re-reading some of it I may have a different take on somethangs. (contagious)
Someone sent me a message saying that they know a shaman when they see one. I'm not much for labels and told them that, after I thanked her for what seemed like it was meant to be a compliment. I was curious to see what she was talking about and found that encyclopedia.
I'm still a noob at the energy and have so much more to learn.
