RH - Empty vs. Filled Martha
    #14193622 - 03/27/11 06:10 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

My buddy is testing a Martha prior to using it, and is wondering if they behave differently when empty than when they are full of trays.

a) Would the trays contribute to the humidity?
b) Would the lesser volume of air (replaced by trays) result in higher humidity?
c) Would trays placed over the humidifier impede humidity due to condensation on their bottoms?

d) Most importantly, is there a typical net gain or loss in RH?

Thanks guys and gals! :heart::mushroom2:

Instead of asking all these question, why don't you adjust the RH depending on the result you are getting with the trays inside?

Much easier.

Lol anyway, he wants to at least get a general idea of the impact on RH. Wouldn't want yields to suffer whilst he tinkers.

at this time of yr the rh in his house can change week to week mine does so he would have to tinker with it anyway. I dont know many people that can leave it at one setting all yr long. I think even RR has to adj. his.

I use tubs of wet perlite as ballast when I tune my greenhouse.

I guess I should know better than to ask for some universal RH rule by now. Or any universal rule. Anyway, perlite seems the best idea. You can add or remove trays as the situation requires.

b) n/a
c) yes
d) has to be one of the least-answerable questions of the day. Just sayin'.

For the record tho, I wasn't bitchin' that I don't get answers, I was saying that it's dumb of me to expect any universal rule.

Each greenhouse is different.
I moved mine over by the window recently, and I just mist the tubs to humidify the thing.
No electronics at all.
