La France Disease

I did a search and found nothing.
I recently grew some mushrooms and i'm 100% certain they had La France disease. They did nothing for a very long time , then shot up rapidly with almost no cap at all, then once one flush had been picked, the organism died off rapidly.
My friend actually took some of them, before we realised that they were infected. Thank christ he was ok/only took a few. Said he enjoyed them, were a bit like really weak mdma.
Anyway, I'm reluctant to try another grow. I;m not sure where I went wrong. I sterilised everything, inoculated and everything went fine then pasteurised the substrate for a casing as clean as I possibly could. I find it really odd that my first grow in years got what seems like a rare disease, so I was just wondering if anyone else has had this, and what they did to combat it?

that can even happen to the best and experienced grower; nothing to be too worried about.
if your following attempts will also fall victim to La France disease, then i would start to bother.
best of luck.

100 percent sure that your cubes had a virus known to infect the common button mushroom?

no, i dont think so.
virus or not, he just noticed that something isnt ok, made a google search for symptoms and came out with la french blablabla.
the punchline is his grow failed because of contaminants; shit happens.
new game, new luck.

I suspect you grew a contaminant species, such as coprinus. If you have a picture, you might want to post it. RR

I don't sadly, I picked them all, then investigated them because they looked odd.
I can't remember the name of species either, I think it was of some asian origin from what I remember, they were definitely cubensis. I grew them from a spore syringe, I didn't know you could get a contaminated species?

I went by the symptoms that I saw, what I could find.
The mushrooms shot up long and thin, with no cap and then the culture rapidly died.
