Long-term effects of Psilocybin mushrooms

Are there any negative long-term health effects to mushrooms? I thought there weren't any, until yesterday when my friend (a drug dealer and user so he's not a moral anti-drug nazi type) said that mushrooms are bad for you and tear up your stomach in the long-term. He also said that technically speaking, Psilocybin is a poison, and the trip you experience is your body trying to fight off this poison? Is this true? I'm sorry for the long question, but here are a few things I would like to clear up:
1) Is it possible to overdose on Psilocybin? If so, what is its therapeutic ratio?
2) Are there any negative long-term physical health effects on Psilocybin? Such as damage to your stomach lining, digestive system, etc...
3) Any mental long-term effects such as decreased memory, etc?
Sorry for all the questions and thanks for your help.
P.S. Please only respond if you have actually looked into this subject and are sufficiently sure that you know what you're talking about. Thank You

1. As far as I know, it's virtually impossible to OD on shrooms only.
2/3. As far as I know, there are not any long term effects from shrooms. It is possible for shrooms to bring out an underlying mental illness, so if you have a family history of mental illness then you may want to think twice about tripping. There are no bad physical effects from shrooms that are damaging (you might throw up after you eat them haha).
You don't have to worry about your health when taking shrooms, they're very safe.

Your friend is a retard, psilocin is an agonist of the serotonin receptors in the brain, that's where the effects come from. It's a poison as much as any compound you introduce into your body (I'm talking amino-acids, vitamins, everything), and the trip is not caused by "your body trying to fight off this poison". Tell him to eat an Amanita phalloides and see if he trips, the gene pool wouldn't mind. As far as the stomach thing goes, mushroom cell walls are made of chythin which the stomach cannot properly digest (that's where the nausea comes from), but it won't damage your stomach in the long run. If anything, I feel it cured a lot of my stomach problems. But anyway, tea is the way around it if you're worried, that way you don't ingest any mushroom matter. Psilocin has an amazingly high LD50, meaning you can't physically overdose, but the experience would be immense to say the least. Mentally on the other hand, there may be some negative side-effects, that depends from person to person. Psilocibyn "removes the filters", forces you to face reality, tears down the pretenses and ego games. And you might not like what you find, how small and insignificant we really are, and how simple and vulgar the concept of life really is. Falling into depression is possible. On the other hand you may realize how short and precious our time here is, and spend every single moment giving and receiving love, and making yourself and other people happy. It's your choice.

Yeah your friend is a fucking retard and you should get another goddamn dealer.
I fucking hate people like this. Think they know everything but never do any ACTUAL research on it.

that was beautiful. and like this guy said, the only potentially long term negative affects of mushroom use are mental
