I have a costa rica, a ecuador, and a golden teacher spore syringe and no pressure cooker right now sadly...im tryin to raise money for that right now. Im trying to prepare for an outdoor grow since the weather comin up seems real nice for that sort of thing.
Basically,..how should i go about with doing an outdoor grow here in oregon? Just get colonized mycelium on either cakes or grains(if pressure cooker is bought ) and just spawn it to some bulk like Hpoo or coir and let fully colonize and put outside in a humid area while its raining and let it fruit with some type of "fc" setup over it if it stops raining?
And would i be able to spawn cakes/grains to an outdoor bed of Hpoo in 40-50F range and expect them to colonize? Or would i have to be doing the spawning at temps of 69-74F indoors? Im trying to avoid spawning to bulk indoors because of contams.
So im about to be doing the inocs pretty soon on some cakes since i dont have a pressure cooker. Im going to be fruiting a few outside but my main question is should i be spawning them indoors first and fruit outdoors? Or can i spawn directly outside in spring weather?

Get a big pressure cooker it's a must. Start doing a bunch of grain to grain transfers and expand your spawn. Then pasturize a bunch of hpoo build a raised bed mix spawn in may or june when temps get 65 to 70. Cover with plastic to keep out squirles and other pests. Animals will dig up the grains! Keep moist. Let the magic happen.

Yeah, you can use cakes. I have never done an outdoor experiment but Ive been doing some reading. When you choose a spot outside, pick a spot in the shade. Where you know that the sun won't completely dry it out. I guess you can make your spot in colder temps, the myc might just be slow growing to dormant and will start to really colonize when it gets a little warmer. Molds and crap hate being outside in the fresh air. You have to expect contaminants outside though. After all, wild mushrooms compete with crazy things all the time. The great part is you won't be contaminating any grow rooms and won't have to worry about lighting.....Definately on my list of things to do...
-------------------- The mushrooms, which grow only during the season of torrential rains, awaken the forces of creation and produce an experience of spiritual abundance, of an astonishing, inexhaustible constitution of forms that identifies them with fertility and makes them a mediation, a means of communion, of communication between man and the natural world of which they are the metaphysical flesh.
