Whats your opinion on casing incubation

I cased a tray 4 days ago. Coir and verm. Room temp for 2 days. Mycelium had already started poking through in various spots. Decided not to patch cause I would have to rehydrate coir, didn't seem worth it, when I've seen people that didn't patch and had great flushes.
Anyway through what I've read, people say as soon as you see mycelium poking through the top layer its time to start fruiting, well others say you need the casing to colonize to like 80%.
So I took back out of FC and am incubating it again to see if it'll colonize again, cause the 2 or so days it was in FC I got nervous that nothing would happen, because it still needed to colonize. What your opinion, should I just keep in FC or let it colonize more. I mean this is a last resort to getting a decent amount of shrooms. So colonize(white over most the top) or keep in fruiting chamber and hope for the best. I just am worried because my cakes produce like 1 shroom each time. And I need to get this casing to pin.

when you spawn to coir/verm, thats not casing..thats spawning to a nutritious substrate..you want that to colonize 100 percent before introducing into fruiting conditions.

also, you dont patch when spawning to coir/verm...thats only when you apply a casing ( non nutritional ) layer

Alright, thanx. I'm just gonna let sit in room temperature and hopefully it will start to colonize again.

I'm sure it's fine, but as stated, coir is a nutritious substrate (somewhat), and should be 100% colonized before fruiting. Not achieving 100% will surely result in your uncolonized substrate contaminating as anything with nitrogen in it will often do. As also stated, casings should be sterile and mostly devoid of nutrients. Try going with 100% vermiculite next time. I would let it colonize completely and then go ahead and fruit. You could try sterilizing some vermiculite and casing, but in my opinion it would be better to not potentially introduce any more contaminates.

Yeah thanks, it is going fine, its colonizing still, I was just poppin in to ask another question though.
Should I wait a week after full colonization before fruiting? Thanks.
