mushroom spoiled after picking
    #1418520 - 03/30/03 05:58 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

ugh. I picked a 5.5 incher off a cake last night. I put it in the fridge in alum foil over night until I could get a scale. Well, today I put it in my drying chamber, and it gets covered in a dark green slime thing. What did I do wrong, and what should I do with the drying chamber? Thanks

Your first mistake was sealing a fresh mushroom in an airtight container.

Your second mistake was putting it into your desiccant chamber without fan drying it first.

Why do you have to fan dry it first?

You don't HAVE to, but fan drying for 24-36 hours prior to putting into the desiccant chamber will get the fruit cracker dry in a shorter amount of time, and will use less desiccant.
