Hey hey pub!
Recorded this today and wanted to share it.
Hope someone out there enjoys it.

If you're listening and have any ideas how it could be better, or maybe some comments on the mix, i'd appreciate it as well. This is going on a demo CD (to hand out to local bars, etc.) so i want it to be pretty good sounding.

Sounding good and clean   I could get super critical  but I think it is pretty par with good sound.

Thanks, haven't heard it in a while.

Something tells me it's the doobie brothers.

i believe uncle kracker did a version, but it's not how i know the song. And teknix, I thought it was the Doobie brothers too, but I just looked it up and apparently it's not?

don't mind super criticism, if you don't mind giving it.
I'm always looking to improve.

Granted, this was a pretty quick recording... I know a couple of the djembe hits are off-time, and I actually recorded this with Audacity because Cubase has been overheating my computer recently, so I had to resort to Audacity's crappy plugins (i spent a good amount of time getting the reverb to sound like it does, and i don't even like it that much)

well, I feel like the stereo spectrum could be widened a bit, and yes a few djembe hits are def off by like 50ms or something, as well as there are a couple instances where I think the vocal is phase canceling or, harshly interacting with another track but I am not sure how.

I think past that it is semi limited by Mic quality + room acoustics.

Interesting, as I tripled the guitar track, with one in the center, and two hard-panned left and right, with the one panned to the right a few ms later than the others.

hmm... i'm not sure what phase canceling is... i'll look it up. I myself don't hear what you are describing, but i don't doubt it. Perhaps the voice and guitar are fighting for eq space.

Yeah, I'm using a USB mic for now (a pretty high quality one... the Blue Yeti... but still a USB mic just the same) and I'm sure my room acoustics suck donkey balls. I had to do a few retakes because the landscapers were outside my apartment today and the mic would pick them up from outside. I was like fuuuuuuuuuu

not too worried about all that though. i'll probably go in and fix those djembe hits but leave the rest alone... if I was releasing a real CD I'd care a lot more, but like i said this is just a demo for bars
