goddamn Im so mad right now . I just got my headphone cable in, and I guess I forgot to take this adapter off before i threw the fucking cable away. This is the fourth time Ive had to replace the cable so I don't know how could make this mistake.. I swear to fuck if I have to order this shit online and wait another goddamn week....
Sennheiser says Best Buy and Guitar Center are both authorized dealers but I can't find any products on their sites similar to the link above

you should be able to get something like that from radio shack or best buy or any decent audio place. Just ask for an eighth inch male plug to quarter inch stereo female adapter.

I make my own personally with 100% silver wire. A lil more expensive but sounds excellent. What cans do you use that are 1/4"? I was under the impression most that are 1/4" from sennheiser that come with replacable cables really need an amp capable of at least 300 ohm (hd600, 650, etc)

you can change out the cable on your sennheisers? I've had mine for a few years and it's kinked as fuck.

some models you can. You can really recable just about any headphone though, even if you aren't supposed to be able to. I've recabled sennheisers, grados, beyerdynamics, etc.

Only elven-forged-by-moonlight silver I trust? Otherwise, give it a try, 'cause it beats the crap out of plain old regular silver

So you'll probably lose some output power due to an impedance mismatch, assuming you use a modern, portable audio device such as an iPod. If you have no problems with insufficient sound levels, then there's nothing to worry about.

i havent been listening to much music anyways. As long as I get sound coming out my cans while Im watching a movie, its all good. I generally dont blare the audio when im watching a movie. Im just so glad I dont have to put these idiotic Shure earbuds in anymore.. I ended up getting an ear infection from them even though I kept them clean.. and they just plain hurt when they've been jammed in your ears all day

yep. you guys were right. I could tell right away when I played a certain song at full volume
I'll have to buy the actual senneheiser one, but in the meantime the cheap radio shack one is Ok. Audio is fine when i watch movies

dude, what are you using to drive them? They're REALLY picky cans if you ask me. There's much more to impedance than volume (that's actually the sensitivity, much different.) to put it into perspective, an ipod can "drive" my dt770 to fine volumes, but the dynamic range is shit.
Do yourself a favor if you're not running it from anything nice, get yourself an e7/e9 combo and will be more than enough to drive your cans and no need for an adapter

honestly, you woulda done better if you had got a better set of cans. I'd either sell them on head-fi and get something else or buy a good dac/amp setup. Even a udac would probably be leaps and bounds better. They can support around 250-300 ohms in my experience and sound great. I personally use one as the line out to my amplifiers when I use my laptop
