Bit of a shame one of the big patches i found in woodchip is in direct sunlight... the pins are now drying out
Found these in a shaded damp area under pines

Anyone have any idea what these tiny dots are on this one sub?, not sure if they're tiny bugs or some form of mold. Should I be tossing it?

Cheers

best not eat it, but if you dont want to waste it, just make a tea. It will most likly destroy mold and germs

Nice healthy little find there rav. I just went for a walk around my block and had a bit of a scour of any areas that looked like possible habitats, found a few small patches which was exciting but most were sun bleached or half eaten by bugs. Found a couple of really thick, chunky subs so I'll be spore printing those for later use

Weird.. my friend took me to a patch that was teeming a few weeks ago, but today was basically deserted. A couple of pins coming up, but where there were hundreds, there's probably now 10 pins max.
Highly unlikely it's been picked.. what's going on? Do patches generally just have one major fruit then die off for the season?

sounds like a "rape and pillage" mission, if they just rotted there you should still be able to see them or atleast stems. @lockys probably right with not enough moisture

Hey guys. Im just wondering about dosage. How much Psilocybe Subaeruginosa would you usually take just for an average trip? Not mild but not super intese either.
I'm just talking about average sized ones too. Not really huge or smalle.
thanks.
Also reading back some pages I hear the season is nearly over? How many weeks if that would you expect it to have left?

Went to one of the new spots I found that gave me about 5kg of fresh subs about 2 weeks ago yesterday. I got just under 1kg for my efforts. Place was plenty damp, been receiving plenty of rain and sunlight. My guess is although the weather seems perfect at the moment, I think the nights are dropping to about 2-3 degrees which is just about freezing which again isn't good for the shrooms. Wintertime2: like i said about the freezing temps not currently being ideal, patches normally have about 2-3 flushes throughout the season. (my personal experience anyway. They'll fruit constantly throughout the season but there will only be 2-3 real good flushes, when you go there all you'll see is a golden field just gotta hope u get there on the right day and don't give the bugs too much time to get in there. Hope that helps.

dry them and weigh them out, dont go on the number of shrooms, go by the weight when they are cracker dry [super dry the snap like a cracker]. start with a 2~3 gram dose id suggest to a noobie, its nice enough to feel the effects, but you can still get a grip on reality easy and function around other ppl. always better to be underwelmed than over.
if you eat fresh, times your dose weight by 9 or 10, so about 20g wet is worth 2g dry. just dont get caught out by semi dried, or drying shrooms. eat them freshly picked or dry, unless your experienced in my opinion.

Pics from Friday's Hunt. I hate hunting in sunlight. It's much easier to spot them when it's overcast!
Knew the vibes were bad when this greeted me at the first patch I visited...

 Found some dried long stemmers
Then a previously healthy patch of pins that I left last week last week came up with this.

Surprisingly it's too dry at the moment and plenty sun makes for not very good subs. I've also noticed that there's not a lot of any other fungi out there. Well, not compared to last year. I think I've nearly seen more subs than strophs this season.

No luck in my hunts... weird really, went to a massive plantation where there were large patches of non-actives, but only found two tiny subs. Also, my old patch is no longer fruiting... at all...
Is it not cold enough yet? Any tips? I was looking in pines for the most part.

2-3 grams is way much for a beginner dose. subs are extremely potent. start with 1 gram and see how you go. it will give you a glimpse of what mushrooms have to offer, and you can choose whether to proceed or not from there.
you could even start with .5g and see how you go. its a million times better to start out dosing too low then it is to start out dosing too high and break your brain and ruin mushrooms for yourself in the process.

Hey guys. When people say 'the season is over' Does that refer to Psilocybe Subaeruginosa only? Or all mushrooms as a whole?
Today I went out for a pretty lengthy hunt. Found a small little patch of them in around some dead leaves. Not much woodchips, just a lot of dead leaves. Didn't take any though.
But I found an area with a massive strip of woodchips, 100 metres long, with shrubs and bushes and trees and a little stream next to it. I found every P. Sub look alike under the sun here. They were thriving. Hundreds of them. Yet no Subs to be found (well...8). But there were no big batches of mature ones like there was of the look alikes.
SO I GUESS my question is. Is it season over for P. Subs? Or all mushrooms? Because I don't know why I didn't find any in an area where there were look alikes and a perfect environment. I look pretty thoroughly.
Also. If the season is ending, should I just pick all Subs that I see mainly?

I don't think it's "OVER". Maybe it's just half-time.
