yeah, the last print i tried, i went picking, 30min later at home i chose 3 caps, 10mm 15mm and 20mm and put them on foil, cup over the top and a bit of foil folded a few times under the cup so it sat up 0.5mm. placed it on a shelf, in a draft free room around 11am on saturday. dinner that night, drinks at the gf's inlaws, stayed there and got home a bout 8pm sunday, checked them about then. still got the foil, and its only got a smudge from where the cap stuck to the foil a little.
surely that would have been long enough? maybe the alcohol wipes im using are shitting the process up? ill go check them now and read the 'ingredients', lol.

kendall webcol, skin cleansing alcohol wipes, Isopropyl alcohol >60%.
i use them for body piercing, so figured they would be fine. i still dont think they would cause an issue.
ill stop here, and go back to the other tread i started about my problem. i reckon im borderline hi-jacking this now...

kampf said: So, I've got absolutely nothing better to do tomorrow so I thought I should get out of the damn house for a change and go for a nice long ass bushwalk/hike.
Thinking of hitting up either Werribee Gorge, or Dandenong Ranges. Hoping to find some nice edible active Mushies to bring home with me
Anyone have any recommendations for an awesome walking track/off-track (I'm not interested in exact locations etc, im more then happy to wonder through bushlands for hours hoping to stumble upon some), just after ideas of where I shall go...
I'm most likely going to the dandy ranges tomorrow as well.
@SirShroomsAlot: Might see ya there lol. I've never been there before, no map, just going to walk 3 hours in and then 3 hours back the way I came lol

Chicken Nipples said: nice finds here,
has anyone got any tips for finding new patches in central vic/goldfields? iv got 2 patches, but it seems im sharing with a fair few ppl, not including the 2 guys i pick with. iv found 3 pairs of scissors this season, and a pair of pink and black lacy nickers, lol.
also, my spore prints always fail, and i dont get any print left after 24 hours, or more. iv tried big and small caps, but im just not getting any results. iv asked here before, elsewhere on the shroomery, but i didnt get any help at all.
Ive had the exact same problem of late!! with caps being small, medium and big, they are fresh not dry or anything and somehow 80% of them dropped their spores and the rest didnt. under the ones that didnt drop them i found like condensation type thing. very weird

Went for a sunday hunt today in a park near a botanical garden.. found nothing but amanitas for the first part of the walk and then noticed subs tree after tree after tree after that and picked my way to glory, i didnt pick majority of them cause i was a bit late but im hoping i can get them a bit earlier next time and bag a fair few more. also a little tip i have found very close relation in habits of aminitas and subs. the aminitas grow directly in the pine needles and the subs in the longish grass a few meters out from the trunk of the tree. Mostly found near some species of pine tree (they were plantation type more park type) but also found a good patch under eculyptus in longish grass... check out my pics, decided to be a bit cheeky in the car ;P
Saw many delicious aminatias (unfortunatly i dont do them)

MY BAG! :O!

Disagree so strongly that that picture is a seco. Its obviously a sub with a frilly cap, very commonly found here in NZ. From finding secos , they dont even get that 'tan' colour without going intensely blue nor do they ever open out like that, theyre not p. secos. D:

My friend found a small patch of subs. Once you've picked them (and not taken the mycelium), how long does it take them to rejuvinate?

It's ****ing!!!
mod edit: 5. Do not make threads or posts discussing or reporting the weather. This includes complaining about the weather, asking if the current weather is "good for shrooms", or how long to wait after rain fall to go hunting. As a general rule of thumb, if it has rained within the last 1-10 days, and the temperatures are correct for the type of mushroom you're looking for, and the time of year is correct then it is very likely that the mushroom you are looking for is growing.

Why can't you talk about the weather on shroomery? You can talk about ingesting illegal substances and pretty much anything else, but get pinged for speaking about the worlds most common conversation starter. does this mean that Australians can't use the term g'day because it can often pertain to the weather?

Because threads like this would end up with 6000 posts about the weather in them. It's the same reason official threads are started with actuall finds otherwise the thread fills up with pages of gibberish before the season actually starts.

They should let people off with; Good weather, might head out for a hunt, bla bla bla.
But constant weather threads would be anoying
