Maybe you could tape/stick a box to the roof in front of your heater?
Man, it's been getting feisty in here lately...
ok so here are said shrooms (5c coin on the right - however IRL they look much bigger than that lol)
would've had more if it wasn't so dark, had to use my phone for light and we were only meant to be out for a short walk. honestly was not expecting to find anything, so i'm not complaining.
and here is the drier i made up...
they barely fill the bottom of the bag so i think it should be fine. already drying quite nicely
i plan to make a box kinda thing with like flyscreen mesh layers to hold the shrooms, but that will wait til i go on my next hunt in a few weeks

Yeah Chilled, i find the same ones also. i don't know what specific species they are, i'm almost certain they are not Subaeruginosa, but they are way potent ! i found this out the hard way on my first trip last year eating maybe 12-15 medium sized ones. jesus! they are great though. i trip off them almost exclusively now.

Just a Guess but could it be Psilocybe cyanescens. Seems to look just like it in the pictures I've been looking at. I'm nowhere near an expert though.
Heres a photo of some I found a week ago, It's a shitty photo from a phone though and the colour is abit off.

Will get some better pics tomorrow and post a pic of a spore print I'm taking of one now.

I went on my first hunt today in the north eastern suburbs and found these bad boys. As it was my first hunt and I don't trust the people I was with I was just wondering if I could get a second opinion?
 Just after I picked them.
What they look like now after sitting in a paper bag in the car all day. All good guys?

P. Cyanescens do not grow in Australia, so it's not them.

Nice mate, yep they are healthy and tasty alright. Good on you for not just taking the word of the first person who says they are ok!

Oh my bad. It says on Wiki they grow in some parts of Australia. I Guess that is what I get for trusting Wikipedia though.

Went for my first hunt today finding nothing in the bush where there was perfect habitat for subs but nothing! then went to a park and found some growing right in the wood chips. do you think a recent model commodore with a camo bull bar is likely to be an undercover cop? very sus what it was doing... what are your thoughts?

Police generally do cruise around in new model commodores, however i've never seen them crankin' the camo. What did the driver look like? How many antenna were on the car?
To keep safe i generally hunt patches in suburban areas early in the morning. The country cops don't seem to care much though, && the hauls are much bigger the further out you go usually. So i'd suggest either be an early bird or take a bit of a longer drive next time.
Last thing any of us want is a criminal record!! The cops are keeping a closer eye on patches this year from what i can gather..

My suspicion is that the particular variety of psilocybe im finding is an Ovoid. Not sure on the exact spelling, ovoidcydiata or something. But upon browsing through pictures of most psilocybes, they were really the only ones i could see that had the really dark brown almost purple caps that dried out to a golden colour that almost turns teal/green when blueing occurs. This is just my newbish opinion though. i was going to send some to Alan because i think he was going to run some tests on them or something to compare.

You got intel reports do you? The cops know when mushroom season is, they know people will be out hunting. Just be smart. Hunt during hours where its not so suspicious, don't LOOK suspicious and always carry a camera. Helps when you need to explain why you're hovering above mushrooms.
"Im a photography student at uni officer, my assignment involves photos of living things in nature".
The way i used to do it was cut all the shrooms in the area, scope it out, then quickly collect them, bag them and take off. I'd never have any in my possession whilst picking. That way, if i get approaced by the 5-0 i have nothing on me. They can't prove i snipped 300 shrooms lying all around me.

After 7 failed hunts, I finally came across some of my first sub finds today. Could someone else confirm these as subs?, Im 99% sure.
Left a whole bunch of pins behind to grow, roughly how long until i should bother to return to the pins?
Blue bruising on all, purple-brownish spores.

Also, what is the quickest way to dry these without desiccants? would laying them on paper towel for few days work well?
I have to hop off for now, but i guess ill have to do some reading later on through all the info on this site.
Thanks guys

yeah they're good.
most people just fan/heater dry them for a few days. then to get every last bit of moisture out of them they finish them off in the oven on the very lowest setting with the door left open or ajar, or they use a dessication chamber.

They look like subs, but with a shitty photo im not willing to give a 100% guarantee. Pins can take up to 2 weeks to develop in low light conditions.
Laying them out on some newspaper in front of a heater/fan for several hours will dry them out pretty well.
I had a brainwave one day thinking how i could dry them out the fastest without a food dehydrator and ended up with an awesome method. If you have a modern front loader dryer, most of them come with shoe racks, as in a rack that doesn't rotate when the dryer is on. I lay my mushrooms out on some newspaper, put them on the shoe rack and chuck it on Regular heat, they're cracker dry in 2 hours.
Blend them, cap them and im done. Its awesome!

Hey guys, I just have a few questions regarding P. Subs. I know this might not be the place, but it seems like a friendly bunch of Victorians in here that I can trust.
1. How many P. Subs would I have to eat to get to say level 3 / 4 according to shroomery. I know the levels aren't entirely accurate, but lets base it off that.
2. If I go to a patch with say, 20 good sizes P. Subs. Take 10 or so with scissors, how much longer will it be until they have grown back into more I can use later?
thanks very much for any information!
