DosileFlynn said: you just have to search for it, roundabouts, man made gardens, reserves, forrest with lots of eucalyptus or pine trees and lots of leaf/tree litter on the ground. wooded areas near creeks and rivers. They grow in damp woodchipped areas.
Get a melways and open the page of your area, then just visit all the local parks near your house and look for woodchip beds and under trees and things.
Thankyou thats what i was asking for. ive been doing that on my nav but i guess i need to keep searching around. ta
@locky yeah i went to one today not even a shroom lol, was a shit botantic garden though not very good growing condition
the last few years i've been looking in forests/rain forests, i kept hearing about people finding them in their back/front yard, in parks etc... so i looked on my phone's gps for parks, the first one i went to i found some. and then i went for a walk when i was in eastern suburbs yesterday by looking on my gps and found some more. both times were under pine trees, in random parks.

Gah I'm still raging about my patch being torn up. Too busy with uni to hunt for a new one too
How much longer do you guys think we'll be seeing subs in these numbers? It's my first season here, so I kinda don't know how late I can leave it...

yeah lulz.
one more question in regards to drying them out. I have a large heater in my room, if I put them in a paper bag and attached the bag to the heater with string or something so the warm air is blowing in to the bag, that would be good yeah? I'll be working on a better solution soon, but I just want to find an effective method for these first ones.
Thanks again

Lay them out on paper infront of the heater. If they are in a bag clumped together then there is less surface area being effected by the heat/airflow and they will dry a lot slower.

The heater is on the roof :/ (well in the corner of the wall and the roof) I guess I could try and make a platform kinda thing that they can sit on, I'll suss it out a bit more when i get home. As long as the idea is fine I'm sure I'll find an adequate method

I've cut a hole in the bottom of a cardboard box and placed it over the ducted heating vent in my room to dry my mushrooms elevated a cooking rack inside to place them on and cut a few slots in the top of the box to allow air flow, works well. Maybe you could tape/stick a box to the roof in front of your heater?
Man, it's been getting feisty in here lately...

Having some luck in my modest patches. waiting on pins to mature though. Went on a ballsy hunt to one of my spots on Sat morn. which is around a couple of football fields. yes matches were being played while I was scurrying around the undergrowth.
Also I just wanted to point out that there's no need to apply heat to your drying out methods. I usually just use a fan and desiccant (sp?) chamber. I never apply heat and they're cracker dry in about 72hrs easy. 96 when I do a spore print. My aim is to give spores back to every patch I take from this season.

This season has been one of the best for me ever. I literally can not walk out my door without spotting subbs. I havn't even bothered checking out my old spots this season.
Will snaps a few pics tomorrow of some of the pins I've been watching mature over the past few days. It's been really interesting visiting them everyday watching them going from tiny pins to full grown shrooms. Havn't been able to do this before as I had to travel to get to my old patches.
Also These subs seem to be a lot more potent then ones I have picked in the past. Not sure why, but I'm not complaining.
