Disgustipated said: Went for a drive to Western Vic. at the weekend, not actively hunting, but saw ALOT of fungal activity. I had to stop when I caught out of the corner of my eye a bunch of amanita muscaria on the side of the road. This ended up being a large bunch - would had to have seen around 1000 all up. Also a few other species. Have got a few snaps on my girlfriends camera, willpost when I can get them. Didn't find any subs though.
Also haven't seen any around here yet - but once again, I haven't had the time to actively hunt as yet. By the photos coming from others it looks like I may have to find the time over Easter though!
Happy hunting!
I've been driving all over western vic the last couple of weeks, visited several forrests and parks, and found about 1 billion amanita ..and 0 subs

the seasons has really only just started, and its a very early start by previous years standards. And ontop of that there hasn't been much rain lately.
No need to be anxious , give it a few weeks, the mushrooms will be around for the next few months, you'll probably have better luck hunting once the season is in full swing. or atleast wait a bit untill theres been some decent rain.

Well there are definitely some about. Had a quick look in a outer-eastern suburban Melbourne spot today, came home with about 20 pickable. Left quite a few clusters of pins. Shall return in a few days methinks. My main patch is yet to fruit, but this is unsurprising as it is a very exposed area so only really explodes when there's been very very little sun for about a week.
