Welcome!
Here's an oddball to start off the season:
Gymnopilus mayonnaisii

It measures 5mm across, has rusty coloured spores and shows busing on the stem.

I've already had a P. subaeruginosa pop up in my backyard in suburban Melbourne! I didn't think it was nearly cold or wet enough.

Great find mayo. I went out over the weekend with my camera hoping to find an early bloomer. Think it's still a bit dry near my place.

I went and checked a spot This arvo outer east way.
Was still fairly dry but found quite a few pins popping up.

Nothing wrong with that ey! So dissapointed checked on a spot which produced the highest Quantity for me last year only to find it had been destroyed, demolition crew had flipped all the dirt and everything
They're predicting a bit of rain this week. Hopefully we get at least one good day that gives the grounds a good soaking

Those are some early risers Shroomeup.
Went out over the weekend but only Leratiomyces ceres were on the rampage. Area looked at was in the Sth. East suburbs.

Had a quick scout after work this evening in the south western suburbs only to find nothing , first time hunting in melb, hunted alot in adelaide with some of the other forum members all though growing up in melb. Fingers crossed we get some decent below 10 days with a moderate amount of rain for a week or so. No mycelium patches as of yet but as i said went for a "quick scout".
Pretty sure im hunting in the right place, had trouble breathing as i drove to the top of a well known mountain as i was walking around. Well above sea level and very thin air, not many pine around but the environment and air density was perfect.
If anyone knows the south western suburbs well enough maybe you could pm me and share a bit of advice.
Cheers shroomers

Good stuff Lord mayo and Shroomup
Things've really kicked off early this year... I'm inspired to go for a small hunt tomorrow now.
Got what looks like a couple of light rainy days coming up over this week and getting a bit heavier towards the weekend, cool beans. Here's good luck to everyone for the season

Mt Macedon I assume. Don't really want pine around there. Your probably looking in the right spots but it's just a bit early. I think after the rain this weekend we'd be looking pretty good.
My advice is give it a couple of weeks!
