Probably very weakly psychoactive. Not worth an extraction. Just a nice plant to grow

I haven't seen any reports on this plant but it is an great looking cacti so stick it in the ground and grow it for a few years. In the meantime if you feel the need to munch on cacti find your self a chunky piece of Eileen,Psycho0 or any fat bridgesii and you wont be sorry.

Here are a couple of quotes from SAB by M.S Smith.
Quote:
Hey blowng, I noticed the similarity of T. knuthianus to T. cuzcoensis some time ago. I also noticed some similarity between these two and T. tarmaensis, only to find that Ritter considers T. knuthianus and T. tarmaensis to be synonymous. I swear that in one of my reference books someone says T. knuthianus and T. cuzcoensis are also synonymous, but I can't seem to find it. I think they are all the same variable species, sort of like I would say T. santaensis and T. pallarensis are both variables of the same grouping that T. pachanoi falls into. I'm a "clumper" not a "splitter" and don't think that some otherwise minor traits undo T. knuthianus being a variety of T. cuzcoensis, but all the same, like mutant I don't think it would be valuable to stop using the name T. knuthianus. I might note though that the T. knuthianus that I see in Australia is not the same as the one sold by Sacred Succulents which is much more similar to the T. cuzcoensis of Cuzco.
Quote:
I'd definitely keep the "knuthianus" tag on it. I understand what you mean by it not looking much like your T. cuzcoensis, but what we're trying to point out is that T. cuzcoensis is not just a bunch of plants that look the same, but is a broad group of plants that bear similar, though not identical, features...sort of like dogs I guess. Just because they all don't look the same doesn't mean they aren't the same species. I might even take this a step further and say that within the species there are groupings, just like in dogs we have the breed of Terriers, with these being similar, but not quite the same. So the "knuthianus" could be just a variation within the breed of a species. I know this is a great simplification, but I'm just trying to make a general point.
Thought this might be of some interest

Cheers GOT! Food for thought.....
A question if you'd be so kind. How is the growth rate of these bad boys?
@atomicshaman: Not much entheogenic value in this cactus. It might be useful as a dieting aid as it contains N-methyltyramine. I don't need to lose weight so I wont be experimenting this avenue.

I think the growth rate is average defiantly not one of my fastest growers but not slow. Is that clear as mud Mine is in a small pot compared to my other plants of the same size so that could be slowing it down a bit. I will check back and see if I can work out how big it was when I got it. Hopefully that will be a bit more helpful than that first statment.

Ok It is in a 200mm pot and I received it Dec 09 and it was 450mm it is now 750mm. Not the fastest grower but I am a believer in pot size restricting growth.
