What is a sector? Wat exact characteristics do I look 4 in mycelium to determine if it is sectoring?

I thought that if there was like a line visible along the radius of the mycelium (on a petri), then there was sectoring going on.
I am now however confused, because apparently this has dozens of sectors:
 (From post http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6780625 )
And these have no sectoring at all:
   (From post http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/9714678 )
So what are the defining characteristics of sectoring? How can I know if I have it for sure?

I just go for the most rhizo pieces, and inoculate a couple of jars with the best ones.. then you need to fruit, to make sure they are optimal, potent, and decent flushers, then make sure you still have a jar of that iso left.. usually, I will use ALMOST all of the jar for a tray, and keep some left over, so that I can compare the results of that tray, to that jar, and then make more jars with the remaining spawn, if it is up to par.. Since it came from the same isolate, the leftover spawn can inoculate HELLA jars, therefore giving you the resulting culture from the tray you decided to "mother", if I can use the term loosely..
