since they are hard on your liver (i dont have a reference to that), i would guess the answer would be no since whatever nutritional content they have would be overruled by the risk of liver damage....but of course i cant say for sure.

Edible mushrooms are very nutritious.
Fresh mushrooms are mostly water (85-95%). Their main nutritive value is protein - the protein in mushrooms contains all the essential amino acids. Anywhere from 5-30% of the dry weight of a mushroom is protein (depending on species and other factors). They are low in calories and fat, and high in dietary fiber. They have significant levels of the water soluble vitamins (B's and C) and all the important minerals.
In much of the world the primary cause of starvation is not calories, but lack of protein. Some species of cultivatable mushrooms are being researched for use in converting dead plant materials into usable food (think of growing oyster mushrooms on bales of hay).
Vats of Blood, you must be confusing some of the poisonous mushrooms (such as the deadly Amanitas) with the edibles. There are certainly a number of mushroom species which are very dangerous (or lethal) to eat. There are also a number of species which are not at all dangerous, in fact, some are being researched as parts of potential treatments for cancer.
-------------------- Happy mushrooming!

Mushrooms come around 692 on the physical toxicity scale, aspirin comes around 200. They arn't hard on your liver.

yeah sorry, i thought by "Edibles" he was saying it like a slang for "magic" mushrooms, ie p. cubensis, which i understand will hurt your liver if abused/eaten frequently (maybe im wrong).

Additionally, your logic is off, even if they were bad for your liver. If cyanide was combined with protein, you'd still have nutrition...it'd just kill you.
