question about mixing different grains
    #14177714 - 03/24/11 06:39 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I was wondering if I was to mix 2 regular rye berry bags with 1 bag of rye wheat berries is there a benefit to that? if not what would i mix with rye berries to give the mycelium a more variety of foods?

Disagreed.  Not only does the addition of the wheat berries make the substrate more nutritious, it also provides varying sources for mycelium to get their food from.  Both beneficial factors for the running and fruiting of mycelum off of grains.

Be sure to follow the proper preparation parameters for each individual grain type before loading them together in their respected containers to be sterilized.  Mainly, be sure the surface of each grain type being mixed together and sterilized at once is at the correct moisture content level before being mixed together and loaded into their respected containers for sterilization.
