just 2x... so if u were gonna do 10 brf cakes 20 1/4 pinters would do it, and for me, cutting the time in half on colonization of the cake (which is what i suspect would have to happen) would be worth having 2x as many small cakes ....
experiments are in order....

... they better not take 2 months to colonize.. That sounds like your exagerating, and I really hope you are lol.

naw it takes quite a while sometimes for just the regular 1/2 pint brf cakes to colonize... like roughly a month...
i have never done 1 pint jars before, so i dont know how much stalling is going to affect you, but it's highly possibly they will never fully colonize...
do you have any more spores? you cld make smaller cakes

Quater pint jars just dont contain enough water to get decent yields.

I can give you a little advice regarding yields...
Don't count your yield before you have any mush. You will be disappointed. Been there and done that. I am mostly a pessimist so I always expect the worst, but...
A realistic estimate would be anywhere from 3-5 grams a cake, assuming you do everything right. You could very well end up with 0-9 grams a cake. It depends on a lot of things (ie. genetics, environment, procedure).

Before you switch your jar size, switch your substrate. Whole grain brown rice is easier and all-around better imo - just be careful to let it colonize fully or the spots that were pressed against the glass can get tric when you go to fruit.

There is a reason that 1/2 pint jars are the standard.
There standard? i never gone below a quarter jars to be honest. My regular are 2.5 quarts. they do take a tad longer. But golly didn't know that!

Not to mention 2.5 quart jar of BRF would never colonize fully
