The k3y is to learn to make sterile agar in petri dishes.  Real cheap and easy to do, all you need is agar powder (health food store), and petri dishes (how the fuck should I know?  I go to a local surplus store , and a microwave.

Then you can do tissue cultures, and clones, and even if all you have is an empty bag of shrooms you bought off some dood in an alley, you can still isolate a non-contaminated culture relatively easily.  Say you make up 6 dishes of agar, and spot them in 4 places with spores, even if 1 out of 24 is your clean to contam ratio, you're golden!  Just use a sterile knife to slice out the good culture and drop it onto another plate of agar (or even directly onto growing medium).

Agar btw, is a jelo like food substance ideal for culturing fungi and bacteria.
