A question on heat.

I'm about to begin some pf jars.
I'm going to be using LG Brown Rice, that's all I could find.
I'm also gonna use my buddys grinder and grind some up for a jar or two.
That's gonna be a bitch.
My question is about heat though.
Temps are low in my house right now. No Heat. It's fucking cold, all the time.
I'm going to be starting my jars tonight, is this heat gonna be too much of a problem in the early stages?
What do you guys recommend? My aqaurium heater cracked, and I'm really reluctant to use it.
I dont have the funds for anything right now, so I'm thinking that if its really going to make a difference, I'm going to put my jars in a cardboard box to block the light, and then put a lamp right next to it.
Any input?

If you can keep the temps in the 70's it should be fine. Colder temperature means slower colonization. My apt is usually around 73 degrees and everything colonizes just fine

do not even worry about it.. it wont matter.. yes, it will go a lil slower, but if you prepped your jars correctly, then you will not have a problem with it.. just dont even trip off of the cold.. my house is suuuuuuuuuuper duper cold right now, and everything is working just fine..

your jars will get a little additional heat sitting on top of your refrigerator. in the closet near the water heater?

or next to your computer. anything running electric current will generate a little bit of heat, but yeah, don't worry about it. just know that it will take longer to get each step done.
all of my stages occur at about 60-70F. I'd like it to be 70 all the time, but it's just not oh well
