increasing the size of jar...
    #1417200 - 03/29/03 06:23 PM (20 years, 11 months ago)

is there a reason why you cannot increase the size of jar that you are using, increase the amount of substrate, and the amount of spores accordingly in order to have larger and fewer cakes.....these half pint jars are so small....just wondering and did not see any info specifically about this in the faq except for the fact that you have to use the half pinters....

thank you...

You can, but larger jar = longer colonization time = larger window of opportunity for contamination. Some folks hit a happy medium by using pint jars.
