Um, I never said that I didn't notice that 'social monogamy' was quoted, you have misunderstood me; enjoy your brain farts. :brainfart:

I guess I see what you are saying, but I suppose that's if we are saying there is no difference between social and sexual monogamy

I could at least handle 4 for sure. More than that and I probably wouldn't sleep very well ever.. and slowly collapse.

Yes, that's what I was saying--the article makes no distinction between the two concepts, so I'm assuming they're the same thing (at least in the article).

You're right, in the article I don't think there is the distinction, I guess I was just assuming a difference between the two.  Either way, OP, yes your girl would be pissed if you slammed her best friend, but no polygamy is not that crazy of a concept.

The concept itself isn't crazy, how Mormons justify it is, however. :crazy3:

Several species are monogamous, it's not too rare a trait in the animal kingdom.

And WTF, you don't think this is crazy: it will eradicate all social evils, elevate all mankind, and is for the benefit of the entire world.

:what:

I like how you conveniently left out of your quote how I said "one of the only species", would it have been better if I said vast majority?

As far as you saying it's not too rare of a trait, I believe you are taking what you think I didn't say to the next level and making it seem like monogamy in the animal kingdom is common, which infact it is not.

I am not talking about the commonality of monogamy or polygamy at all, i dont get where you got that from. I'm talking about the mormon justification for polygamy, which includes the fact that they believe (at least Brigham Young did) that women should be completely subordinate to men (in the name of the Lord of course)

Polygamy in a lot of ways would make the world better. Polygamy is what weve been used to for thousands of years, monogamy in humans really only popped up around the time of agriculture. Agriculture breeds the need of property. We fought for land and more importantly women.  women became property. marriage was a peace treaty.

for thousands of years weve been at odds with our nature. Why do you think people cheat? Even psychologist try to make it more complicated than it obviously is.

I personally prefer serial monogamy. Im not about to trap myself in a relationship that will more than likely go sour so Id rather enjoy it while its full of love and move the fuck on after it peaks.
