I'm Quitting 2

I am officially quitting smoking cigarettes right now.
Been thinking about doing it for a while, been putting it off, but I decided I have been procrastinating it for too long. I've been smoking a pack a day for over 4 years, and it's only going to get harder the longer I wait. I know I can do it, going cold turkey, I am not touching another cigarette EVER.
I'm making this post so I can feel some peer pressure, and maybe get some support if anyone feels like giving it. I live with my boyfriend and he refuses to stop with me, or even start smoking outside instead of inside, so it's going to be tough for me. I can do it though !
I'll keep the thread updated - wish me luck!

Good for you. I just quit fairly recently too. I had cravings of course but they stopped after about 2 weeks or so. My stamina and my breathing have gotten much better.
Every once in a while when I smoke weed, I think a cigarette would be cool, but it's rare.
But you should really try to get your boyfriend to respect your decision a little more by smoking outside though, smoking where you are and being around the smoke isn't gonna do anything but complicate your decision to quit.
you can do it

I quit cold turkey back in 07. I was smoking about a pack a day. I don't understand what all the fuss is about, it sucked for a a short while but the physical need was nothing compared to the will my mind dished out. The hard part I'd say was how it was embedded into my behavioral patterns, after eating, after sex, after smoking a bowl, then the social aspect. That's what made it "difficult" -Which it really wasn't.
I started smoking again september of last year, was intensely stressed due to 2 very close people dying, ironically of cancers. Quit in october. No desire to smoke at all.
You'll have cravings, but.... Will power. And a true desire to say "nah, I'm done with that shit." It's easy, tell yourself that. Cuz it really is.easy
I don't doubt you can do it, or anyone for that matter. Good luck.

E cigs rock!
Itll probably convince your BF to switch over too, once he sees you smoking wherever the fuck you want, when he has to go outside. plus they dont smell, and arent as bad for you. good way to ween off cigs, and are like 1/5th the cost of smokes

Do you find it at all inconvenient that you have to buy the nicotine cartridges (I think that is what they are) or is it basically the same as buying a pack of cigarettes?

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. He's an asshole. But some women go for that I guess.
Hope you manage to do it. Good luck.

Just my 2c, but you might find it easier to stop smoking if you don't think of it for being "for ever". IMHO that leads to "Okay, I'll start smoking again for a while, but it'll be for ever next time." Decide you're not going to smoke. Don't smoke. It's not for ever, no big deal, you can smoke if you want to, just don't. Not smoking is a lot easier than "stopping smoking". Just like not eating crap, if you eat crap once every now and then, it's no big deal. I decided to not smoke, more than a year ago, with the proviso that I could smoke if I wanted to. I've smoked 3 cigars since then, on special occasions, and enjoyed them immensely. Much moreso than when I was smoking on a daily basis. As long as you know you can smoke whenever you want to, but are choosing not to, rather than you're not allowed to, the urge to smoke fades out pretty quickly. IME.

I've reached the point where I'm semi-involuntarily quitting due to them being so damn expensive... went from a pack a day to ~4/day and my lungs are revolting now that they're getting more oxygen. Good luck dude, this shit is not gonna be fun.

Don't try to quit, just keep watching stories like these, at least once per day.
