Quick Question about Water content
    #14171434 - 03/23/11 05:13 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

So I'm doing my first monotub, using Damion5050's procedure for preparing coco coir. I boiled 4.5 quarts of water and poured it into a 5 gallon bucket with the brick of coir, 2 quarts of verm, and some coffee grounds. After letting it soak and cool, I'm noticing that it seems awfully dry. What should the general consistency of the coir be? Should I add some water. Will provide pics if necessary. Thanks

Follow the tek, don't add water.
Do you need to stir it or something?

You make it all possible. Doesn't it feel good?

Any substrate should only give out a thin stream of water for a second then just a few drops of water to a stop when a handful is squeezed hard.

Evolution is Lamarckism in disguise.  Adaptation never creates a new species or trait, but rather the new species/trait always existed within the parent DNA until circumstances allowed it to be activated.  For instance, every wolf has the DNA for poodles, but that DNA would never be revealed without man selectively breeding for it.

Ok, that is exactly the answer I needed. Much thanks.

Edit: Please feel free to delete this now. Turns out I thought I had mixed it properly, but was wrong. There was a huge wet spot in the bottom
