Nerd. I post a lot in the fantasy baseball thread.

I collected baseball cards from 1988 until the 1994 strike, when I lost interest. In those 6 years, I probably spent 95% of my allowance+lawn mowing earnings on cards, and accumulated somewhere in the ballpark (no pun intended) of 10,000 cards. They are occupying an entire shelf in my parents garage ATM. I don't have anything super-valuable either, but maybe that will change by the time I retire.
My best card is a '80 Topps Ricky Henderson rookie. I found it in a box of random cards that my cousin sent me from when she collected between '78 and '82. It reached a value of $300 right after he took the stolen base record, but was on a long slow decline last time I checked. Some other good ones include a few Kirby Puckett rookies, a Jack Morris rookie, a couple of Rod Carews, and a couple of Harmon Killebrews. I'm a Twins fan if you couldn't tell...

Jack Morris, most overrated player in history.

Are you still butt hurt from the 1991 World Series when Morris shutout your Braves in game 7?

Luck, bro. Smoltz actually pitched better.

The intransigent stupidity that was Dusty Baker was more than powerful enough to cancel out the brilliance of Prior and Wood.
Say what you want about Lou not being able to manage pitchers (and I'm sure zappa will), but at least he didn't leave a steady stream of floppy-armed broken hurlers in his wake like Dusty.

Pinella did stupid shit as well. Like giving starts to a 9 fingered catcher.

You didn't ruin my day. Just pointing out that you had ample opportunity to apply to join the league. But it's all good. I most likely would have denied you a spot anyway because you have been here for 6 months now and never once made a post in the sports forum. We don't need any flaky dilettantes who will stop managing when they find themselves in last place.
lol, good observation Cpt. Obvious
I asked to join "his" league and he questioned why I should be in the fantasy league because "I didn't make a single post about baseball." He gave the impression like he wanted me to write an essay on why he should let me play.
So don't buy into his BS, when in reality he is scared of getting owned by an outsider or "flaky dilettantes."

I'm not afraid of anybody. In 8 years against a total of 66 other teams I've won 6 times and finished behind a grand total of 4 teams. What I'm not interested in is some jackass losing interest and not managing their team in August and September. That fucks the deal up for everybody when that happens. You didn't show any interest at all. No flakes. But don't be offended. Madtown was suspended for a year for doing that.

I know, I know. It's all fun.
Just to let y'all know, robbyberto was one of the 4 although he didn't get the win. I also edged him out by 3 RBIs in 2008 to win and he was right there last year, too. Nobody else has that kind of consistency.

Hey, I concur about the inactivity issue.
The thing is I am fairly active in that forum. I would have been one of the more active teams, I guarantee you.
I am not at all offended. It's all in jest on the shroomery..well it should be atleast.
