hey CJ...
and yet, and yet... all that we have available to grasp this sorry world in our feeble human attempts to grok it in fullness IS the evidence generated by our 5 (6? 7? 8? whatever...) senses...

the JWs & most other groups who gather together as communities of believers DO indeed have shared core beliefs...
and the JWs do believe that those who gather in churches (as opposed to kingdom halls) are not to be counted among the elect 144,000...
and as to what JWs believe, if you don't wish to sift it out of their voluminous publications, you can consult any of a number of slim (or thick as a brick) reference volumes to be found at your local library, or websites online, which can give relatively unbiased accounts of what exactly it is that the various groups of believers "actually believe"...
and thus what it is that differentiates a JW from a jew, or a roman catholic from a greek orthodox, or a lutheran from an epicopalian, or a presbyterian from a methodist, or a quaker from a shaker, or a mormon from a mennonite, or a shiite from a sunni, or a hindu from a jain, or a buddhist from a bonist, or a taoist from a confucianist, or a sikh from a parsi... und so weiter...

  I give that 10 year bump a 4-1/2 out of five.  The only thing that held you back is that you didn't do it one week earlier, which would have been exactly 10 years.

Are you Swami?  What does he go by now?

Hahaha claiming I claimed to live free, or think free. I simply said, Live free, think free. Something I aspire towards everyday. I am a human being, conditioned since birth. Mad difficult to get past this conditioning but I feel I am making progress.

I ask you, why the need for labels and descriptors? Do you think an eagle ponders its freedom or just lives?

I don't think eagles have been proven to be able to think about thoughts or existence, as we humans have..(chimps too).

Ever read Brave New World? No one ponders their freedom, which is exactly how they are so enslaved.

Which brings us to our next subject...

Free will vs Determinism

My argument.

I consciously choose to punch someone in the face, for no other reason than to do so.

The person I punch consciously chooses whether to a) punch me back b) laugh it off c) scream at me d) stare me down

We can choose how we react in any situation, fight or flight is still a choice.

Yes

if we have no free will we should die

but there is another possible interpretation

if living free involves suicide you are both free and dead, there is no "or"

Notice how you have certain options that you assumed a person would take.

It's pretty much like choosing bar soap. Whichever brand you choose, it's owned by Unilever.

Whichever choice you make, it stems from being punched in the face.
