Nine men arrested in June 2010 on felony drug charges during a weekend concert event at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park have had their cases settled in Portage County Common Pleas Court.
On June 5, 2010, authorities arrested nine men on drug charges after a joint undercover investigation by the Portage County Drug Task Force, the Portage County Sheriff’s Office and the Youngstown office of the Drug Enforcement Administration. Drugs including ketamine — an animal anesthetic — LSD, ecstasy, hallucinogenic mushrooms and marijuana were seized by authorities.
In the eight months since the arrests, eight of the men pleaded guilty prior to trial and received sentences ranging from court-ordered drug treatment to 14 months in prison. In total, they were ordered to forfeit $1,471 to the drug task force.
A charge of fifth-degree felony trafficking in LSD against a ninth man, Jason Prosser, 26, of Evans City, Pa., was dismissed in October by the Portage County Prosecutor’s Office due to a lack of evidence, according to court records.
Of the eight remaining defendants, Judge Laurie Pittman reserved the most harsh sentence for Jason Tippie, 27, of New Martinsville, W.Va. Tippie pleaded guilty in August to aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony, but failed to show at his scheduled sentencing hearing on Oct. 12. Pittman sentenced him in December to 14 months in prison and fined him $300.
Other defendants received probation and fines, according to court records:
• Jeffrey Lee, 19, of Fairview Park, pleaded guilty in October to one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony.
• Nathan Leasher, 24, of Evans City, Pa., pleaded guilty in September to trafficking in LSD, a fifth-degree felony.
• Cory Szramowski pleaded guilty in September to aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony, while Thomas L. Zarnich pleaded guilty that same month to trafficking in marijuana, a fifth-degree felony.
• Bryan K. Spychalski Jr., 21, of Toledo, pleaded guilty in October in Enlow’s court to aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony, and trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony.
• Stephen M. Tramte, 19, of Chardon, pleaded guilty in September to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.
• Edward R. West, 47, of Virginia, pleaded guilty in August to two counts of trafficking in drugs and one count of aggravated possession of drugs, all fifth-degree felonies.

miss you too muthafucka... but it's unfortunate that this occurred. the ledges are a decent, respectable establishment with the utmost integrity and moral scruples. it just so happens they caught the few individuals who happened to be passing through on their way to some unknown destination out of state with lsd and other various narcotics. I can personally assure you that there is, nor will there be, drug usage at or near not only nelson ledges state park, but all of Portage county! Vote for me as sheriff of portage county!
Josh Wilkinson for Sheriff!
a vote for me is a vote for you...and hippies.
