@HillsShrooms & SmokeandToke, very nice finds there, its odd that those are mature and dried out, futhermore in April!
What seems to be the first flush of wood patch mushrooms at a locality. In its early stages.

ADC, I think that when you reach 60 or 100 posts or something, then you get more access to the forums. So keep up the posting

still pretty dry out, and even in the wet spots there wasn't a lot of fungi growth. I fell down a huge hill today full of thorn bushes and dead pine needles, I thought I was going to die for a moment haha.
Been on 5 or 6 hunts and haven't seen a single sub so far, I won't give up though, I'm heading back out until I find gold.

Found my first sub of the season today at work next to a creek under euchalypts, there was only one and one small pin comming up next to it so I pulled it out and ate it at work, made for an interesting day! I took a photo but it seems my phone didn't save it for some reason...

nice too see you out for the season Fungus, weird you found them under euch's, and that other people are having luck on euchs.
Several friends have had their first finds all on pine needles, all the euch patches I know still aren't fruiting. I suppose you just have to look in the right spot this early in the season.
I've found so many places that are perfect for subs and they just aren't there.

Some more of those funky yellow mushrooms that came up in my pot plant: same species as I posted here. ID'd as Leucocoprinus birnbaumii by karode13.
This is the first I saw of them, that was Sunday morning:

Later that night (after about 12 hours):

The following morning (Monday):

By Tuesday evening they were looking like the first lot I posted a month ago - last night they were pretty much ka-put.
Also: check out this pic of some look-alikes that I took over the long Easter long weekend. I was excited that I might have my find my first gold then because some others in this thread had struck their first fruit around that time. No subs that day, but these look-alikes had me going for a moment.
Finding these imposters demonstrated to me once again that it always pays to be careful, even when you are experienced. Check out an ID request I posted about them here.

they look like cortinarius again as far as I can tell, I see those damn rusty brown look alikes all over my patches. gets my hopes up every time.
the best way to tell them apart I think is the stems are really brittle and hollow on the look alikes, but subs have a fairly meaty/chunky stem that obviously bruising blue as well.

We are told the rain is on its way. So From this weekend onwards will be the time to adventure out. Ive been out for two small walks and it is a tad dry. They are out there. Ive been reasonably lucky as Ive been finding a few around my property.

On the way home from a work trip down South. I spend half the day driving around looking for new habitats. This spot looks really nice but the ground by the entrance looks really sandy. It would be interesting to know what the hell's going on here. I dont think its owned by Forestrysa as there no sign at all. I just wish I could have taken a walk deep inside the forest guts as I could see bracken fern deep into the pathway. (TOP PIC) TRESPASSERS PROSECUTED.

Just wondering, does bracken actually have anything to do with the habitat of subs and helping them grow? or did you mention it for some other reason?
