Uh, seriously whatever you do dont eat anything until you have had it properly identified by a trusted identifier.
What you have described may be psilocybe subaueruginosa but then again with an id request thread (see the sticky on how to post a proper request) you will be sure of whether to keep or chuck away.
In saying that after seeing your pics you appear to have p. sub

Iceman I believe you have a few different types of mushrooms there. You should gather them all together and split them into piles of each type.
I wouldn't consume any of them until you can get someone saying that they definately are subs.
The last picture you posted are subs, but the other pictures are mostly other types of mushrooms, you could potentionally have picked a few galerinas which are DEADLY POISONOUS.
Be careful.

Iceman89: please cut at stem next time instead of just pulling them straight out the ground, otherwise you may find your patch wont grow back.

agreed that a lot of spots are starting to dry up. a number of my hunting spots arnt producing anywhere near what they were a month or so ago. they did the same thing last yr. went awesome for a good couple of months producing around 200 subs per location and then die down to like 20subs per location.
its been a good season so far, been good sharing the love.
the real winners are shroom pickers
Peace.

Went out today with funkyfungi... probably around ten thousand mushrooms were seen but I forgot to bring my camera
Subs growing out of mud and dirt... an interesting new location. Nearly all the subs picked were very very dry though.

Absolute massive haul today, couldnt grab the amount of subs growing in 1 area between me and 2 picking mates in 6hrs picking approx didnt get many photos but some to come later . Has anyone else been running into subs so dry the outer rim starts to look and feel like charcoal while still growing?

Well we are still trying or where trying to get clarification on these species, but I do know these are a psilocybe of some description,if you look closely to the far left mushroom the upper stipe(stem) is whitish and I did notice a bluing staining effect. Even subs do have a yellow/orange colour at the base of the stipe and even to half way up the stipe. Im pretty confident the mushrooms you stumbled across were not these ones.

nice mr.f and funky looks like there is still hope for SA hunters. Im going for a group pick down south next week maybewith some of my hunting mates and maybe one or two off the forum hopefully we get some good finds be good to hit some pine this year before too late, long forest walks in wet foggy conditions is way better than any haul lol plus be good to catch up with some good mates they can keep the finds anyway as they havnt gone out much this year

Fantastic work there Funky. Uber growth, i knew it.
I went down south yesters and in a 20min smash and grab (always respectful to the forest though) where i pretty much ran, through the forest, found about 40 small, medium and a couple nice big wavy caps. They were fairly sporadic, some off the beaten track, some right on the tracks ha! Sorry no pics.
Also found some lactarius deliciosa, perfect, minimal decay, no maggots! Cant wait to have em with some rump steak tonight, mmm, mmmm, mmmm.
Also picked a juicy looking amanita, going to give prep a go with it.
@ummagumma, nothing there look like what i saw. but you would know the one, they are everywhere where subs are found and when mature the edges split or splay
Peace
