Cheap way to check co2 levels?

i would imagine that a device that measures co2 levels in your terrarium would be expensive so i got to thinking, could you use a long grill lighter like this--> http://wardsci.com/product.asp?pn=IG0017324&cm_mmc=Mercent-_-Google-_-NULL-_-153503&mr:trackingCode=6F59975B-6581-DE11-8C0A-000423C27502&mr:referralID=NA to stick inside a sgfc to check co2 levels? (Assuming that if it lights there is enough oxygen)
The only question would be, does a flame require a similar oxygen level as fungi?
Anyways... im sure this sounds a little noobish but i was just curious, and thought it might be a cheap alternative to an expensive meter... -And i dont want to hear "well a correct sgfc should be fine" because thats obvious as hell.
ALL thoughts are greatly appreciated!

A flame requires oxygen. That's got nothing to do with CO2.

yeah and where there is a high density of co2 there isnt oxygen, so a flame wouldnt burn.

Erm, uh... air is 78% nitrogen. You could have 21% O2 and 15% CO2 and still have room for an extra dash of radon. When you get to high school you'll learn this in science class.

i just thought it was a decent idea. If the flame doesnt light, you need to change something...? Am i being misunderstood or is it a retarded idea?

no need to be an asshole, but if u wanna go that route ill remind you that u average 39 posts a day, get a fuckin life and maybe youll realize that youre a douch bag.
Why do u have to be so condescending about an idea?

You asked a question and got an answer.
You said in your first post what the real answer is: provide proper fae with a properly constructed fruiting chamber.
Let me ask you this: what problem were you looking to solve with this idea?

i was thinking of using it to check my fc once my cakes are fruiting. I mean if they were fruiting sufficiently i wouldnt bother but i thought it might be helpful for trouble shooting poor results.

i just thought since co2 lays at the bottom, attempting to light a flame right above the perlite might tell a person that they need more fae.
Im sorry i didnt pay attention in science class in highschool Doc_T. I was prob sleeping in class while you were posting your wisdom on the shroomery. I thought you were cool man. haha

Agreed, CO2 does not settle out of air. Agreed, if there's not enough oxygen to sustain a flame, you should leave.
But that's not at all relevant to measuring CO2 levels.
I start the day with 20 apples and five oranges. End of the day, I have 15 apples- how many oranges are there?

This thread cracks me up. If you are really concerned about your CO2 levels, I would just suggest fanning more, and probably misting a little extra given the extra fanning.
