The depths of Influence Psychedelic drugs have had on Human and Technological Evolution

I'm starting a new research project. First, I would like as many sources of information as possible regarding any aspect of this topic. The REAL gold nuggets here are things like someone admitting that they were either under the influence of or that prior psychedelic experiences aided in the discovery of something new or worthwhile. As an example Doc Ellis claiming he was under the influence of LSD when he threw a no hitter, crick crediting DNA to his lsd experiences, kesey's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest being written under the influence of LSD, Albert Hofmann's letter to Steve Jobs about his use of LSD, etc. There are so many examples of this. Too many people have had incredible realizations under the influence of psychedelics it's a damn shame they can't step up and credit these remarkable drugs. Who knows, maybe Phelps was under the influence of LSD the day he won all those medals. I wish people would come out of the psychedelic closet in this regard. Imagine, how the world perception of these drugs could change. I'm sure that the work im thinking about doing has already been done. I just need to find out where it's at. I'm looking at this as simply an educational pursuit at this point. I would LOVE anyone's help. Also, please don't use this thread to debate the validity of my examples above. k, thx!

Interesteeeen! you will have to post your progress as you make it, I am really curious to see what other examples and conclusions you find. Here's a website that I found some cool stuff on, it might help, maybe: http://www.psychedelic-library.org/staf5.htm Another place to look is the 1950's when it was still legal- i am sure there were all sorts of important people of society using it then, Huxley being the obvious example. Good Luck!

Cool, thanks! I posted this thread over at the growery too. I did a bit of searching in that site. There's some good sources in there. Good thinking about researching stuff from prior to the prohibition. newspapers would be good from that era.

since you included human evolution, maybe you should write about LSD inspired art?
consider alice in wonderland, a very obviously psychedelic inspired book. many scenes in older children's movies have psychedelic themes (heffelumps in whinnie the poo, pink elephants on parade from dumbo). also, LSD and other psychedelics have played a huge role in the creation of art. while salvador dali didn't do any drugs IIRC, he would make himself hallucinate by staying up for days (again IIRC). maybe you could expand you topic to all psyche's?
as for science, the only thing i know of is what you mentioned, the discovery of LSD's formation by crick.
best of luck to you and your paper! when youre done you should post a copy on here for me to read

This could be interesting.
I wonder how freaked out mainstream society would be if/when they were confronted with the large number of examples of psychedelia influencing something we count on and generally take for granted?
Shit, someone would probably outlaw staying awake for too long!

yeah, this will be the impact of all psychedelics from mckennas stoned ape theory to shamanic ayuhausca use to the widespread use of psychedelics in the early days of the silicon valley boom.
