Hello, all. This is my first time posting on this site, as I just registered. I assume I have 5 minutes before the police break down my door, so I'll be brief. In my 50 years, I have never tried pot and am fairly minimal in my alcohol use. Seeking alternative states was not my thing, as I have enough problems negotiating the one I was given. But recently I got the courage to join the "Spirituality" study going on at Johns Hopkins, which included the use of meditation, mantra and psilocybin--of which I had three trips. There is no way to express the incredible gratitude I have in having the experience of an egoless state and of sense of connectivity to all things. All of the experiences were lessons of life and positive in their influence. Some trips were moderate......and some as large as the universe. It has changed my life for the better and continues to spur growth. I can care less about the "high"-----it was the personal insight and change in perspective that cannot be matched anywhere. I want to go back someday and continue to learn. I'd be very interested in others' experience and how you use mushrooms to be a better person. Thanks.

I just like to trip balls.
Seriously though, a very touching story. Glad to hear the mushrooms have granted you a new perspective.
They are a fungus growing all over the Earth. The government couldn't stop them from growing if they wanted to, but they can make them illegal apparently.

Why are you posting this if the police were coming? maybe you should hide instead. Preferably not in your house.
But seriously, browse the site, we have much to offer, including inanity and banality, so be careful what you decide to find.
Also I refer to us as 'We' because here at the Shroomery, you're a SHROOMERITE, albeit a new one, but a Shroomerite nonetheless. So you are one of us. We are all of you.

Hope you don't get policed!!

it really is beautiful to read of someone who has had one of those experiences, almost made me cry
I'm currently reading into guidebooks and methods for psychedelic therapy, and I might just do some...less than legal....research, fully documenting all methods, variables, etc and participants' experiences, hopefully getting a good amount of info over a few months to possibly a few years to present for the legitimacy of psychedelic therapy.
you see I am a cultural anthropologist student, so I will be working on the transpersonal anthropology work while my friend who is a psychologist will actually be helping with the psychology research.
its just too bad this type of research has to be done illegally.

Thanks for all the replies. "Cops" was an attempt at humor, given my registering as a "Shroomerite". Probably lost on the veterans who are well beyond such concerns. Me--I'm fairly square, but open to experience. Never would've done shrooms without a guide and the Hopkins stamp of approval. But now that I have, I think more is in my future. Could care less about getting fucked-up.....Knowledge of self and universe is the goal. Access to a part of my brain that holds important secrets......that's the shit. It's about the portal, the door. I've never felt more OK and understanding than after my "Level 5" trip. What are you all in it for? Anybody looking for their truth?

This site is full of people with similar goals.. That was my initial goal when it came to mind altering substances. I wish you the best of luck in gaining some insight from this 'forbidden fruit'.
The experience is what you make of it.. I imagine being given psilocin in a scientific environment would be one hell of an experience, especially if you have never been given such things .

Yeah we are glad to have you here. It's really cool that a Hopkins guinea pig is amongst us.
Can you describe some of your experiences?
better yet you show write up a trip report and post it.
Welcome, and good luck with your pursuit of the psychedelic experience and wisdom. There are many of us here who pursue these "drugs" for spiritual and personal purposes. I discovered mushrooms in 2008 and pretty soon after wound up here. this site is chock-ful of awesome info and awesome people.

I've been nibbling psychedelics for quite sometimes now, and I definitely am not looking for the "truth"... But that is only in part due to the fact that my experiences lead me to believe that not only is "TRUTH!" fleeting, but in fact quite different for everyone.
Now, universal truths? I knew those before I started eating psychedelics, be kind to one another, don't cause any undue pain, radical honesty and radical dance moves.
You'll be alright here brother, there are many round about your age bracket, however a lot of them have already moved on with their psychedelic voyaging for the most part. Be wary of children masquerading as wise men, and most of all, don't pay attention to what I say because I'm in it for the sick veteran benefits.
May you unfold at an alarming rate!
