I didn't like these beans and peas any more because there was some kind of goo in them. I PCd it, threw a piece from inside the stem of a shiitake on it and voilá! It grows very slowly, probably due to the salt, but it's absolutely free!

wow!!!! nice job! you should write up a bit more info on that! How sterile were you when you dropped the shiitake piece in there?

I threw a bunch of oyster stems in my compost bin and there is white myce everywhere. I don't know for sure if it is the oysters but I have never seen this type of myce in there before. Time will tell.

I did it in an inoculation chamber. It seems to be sterile and it looks like shiitake mycelium. It probably works better with pasta.

Youre lucky! My oyster stem(same procedure) died because it was contaminated or I killed it with disinfectants.
