Pardon my ignorance, but are the above mentioned flow hood designs intended to be used as open air units? You simply clean off your work area in front of the HEPA while the flow hood blows sterile air? This would prevent mold spores, etc. from entering your work area? I am used to the big industrial laminar flow hoods that have the moveable glass component, UV sterilization light, etc.
Those look pretty simple to make; I may have to invest in one of those.

Factor in the cost of shipping from U.S based seller and duties and it does not work out for a Canadian member.
P.S you come off as an arrogant prick, guess you will fit right in

To run my hood I spray the front down with oust and then let it run for 45 mins to an hour in a small in closed room. Before starting work wipe down your surfaces, assemble your equipment and get ready to go.

That blower you have linked does not have a data sheet, nor does it say any where what static pressure it operates at.
Fact of the matter is I would like to see anyone from WITHIN Canada build a 2X2 hood for under $317 dollars.
I spent a month sourcing parts, getting quotes and I could not find a cheap way to get parts from the U.S. The shipping and duties on the filter I wanted from the states was $145ish, plus the cost of the filter.
Also buying proper in line fans within Canada brand new is expensive as all hell. I did not get a quote for the right blower under $300.
Some of us are well off and have extra $$ to spend, a lot of us dont.

the data sheet isn't strictly needed.
600 cfm fan output says the description. filter is 24inchx24inch * 1 inch if resistance from HEPA = 576 cfm requirement with about the recommended ±10% swing.

What exactly are you arguing, that if you live in the states you can build a flowhood relatively cheap? If so then yes I agree.
When you are trying to build a hood living in Canada there are different variables, things cost more, and our manufacturing sectors are not as big when it comes to things such as blower fans.
I think I did a pretty damned good job building my hood all things considered and it works perfectly. I have yet to get a single contam while using it that was not related to bad hand placement.
