Questions from the Friar

Hello fello Hobbits. I've called you all together for this meeting to get some questions answered about this new "crop" we are trying for the Friar. It's an ancient remedy for all sorts of ailments. A gift we've been given that bears as much responsibility as the Ring. lol just playing
I'm new here and had a few questions. I have been utelizing the search feature quite a bit and have gathered some valuable information. Just a little confused about what's up to date and if someone with experience could offer some clarification.
I've watched these videos several times (http://www.mushroomvideos.com/BRF-Pf-Tek)and wanted to know what modifications to the techniques shown should I do to improve inoculation and fruiting success. I'm set with my 1/2 pint WM jars, PC, doing the vermiculte/org. BRF combo. Perlite for the terrarium and a decent (calibrated) mechanical hygrometer. Have my alcohol lamp, glove box, and lysol. Spores of 2 different strains: 6 Hawaiian (had these ones in Amsterdam) and 6 Golden Teachers.
Comparing the video with some things I've read. For the fruiting chamber, if I'm drilling holes on all six sides of my tub, I won't be able to have any standing water under/in the perlite layer. Which is better, to have holes drilled and no water or no holes and water at the bottom?
When following the procedure in the video, I didn't notice them adding anything to keep the pH leaning towards the Basic side. I've just started reading up on pH importance for fungi and like all other living things...it's an important aspect. Could someone clarify what steps I would do to modify the procedures in the video. Unless this method doesn't require pH adjustment.
I've read that some people use distilled water and then I've read some things saying it doesn't matter. For the jars that get PC, maybe not, but is DI water best when misting the terrarium.
When inocculting the jars, once I break the seal of the micrpore tape to inoculate, do I want to add another piece of tape and then alum. foil over that?
Thanks for joining me,
Bilbo

follow the video's exactly...no changing, modifying or adding
tap water is perfectly fine
you dont want standing water in your FC, it's inviting contam's
the cakes in the video dont require anything to change the pH balance.
you put the dry verm layer on, so once you inoculate you dont need to replace the tape the verm will be your filter for contam's

None. Do not modify in any way, do it exactly like RR does.
-------------------- You make it all possible. Doesn't it feel good?
