SGFC PROBLEMS
    #14161106 - 03/21/11 07:43 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I USED 2 BAGS of perlite, soaked them about 10minutes each and strained them dry, then dump3d into my SGFC. I am seeing no traces of condensation yet though.

Condensation has nothing to do with humidity....

condensation doesn't tell what your humidity is..all it tells you is if your temp is different in the chamber then it is outside.

No condensation just means the inside of the SGFC is the same temp as the outside...

Well, I do live in the south, and my sgfc is sitting outside on my patio. Should I move it inside?

Why is it outside?  Even outside the the temp on the outside of the box can be the same as the inside.  Are there cakes in the SGFC?  Whats the temperature inside compared to outside?

I have a nice screened in porch with perfect space for it. The temp outside is between 75 in the day, and 60 at night. They were only outside for maybe an hour or two. I was told that I should birth 2 of my cakes early due to huge invitro pins, so I was a little unprepared. I've moved them into my bedroom now.

My temp inside is usually around 67-72.

I've been unable to locate a hygrometer, so I was hoping to see the water lining the walls of my FC. Kinda put my mind at ease, I guess.

Just follow the tek and you don't need a hygrometer.  Besides, it would be made in china crap anyway and you'd just waste time trying to use the darn thing.

your holes for fae should be about pencil sized spaced about 2" apart, all over the entire fc...add a nice hand deep (4-5 inches) layer of perlite, you'll hover around 95-99% no problem. Perlite > that sandstone air pump crap any day imo.
