I can choose to go study in the netherlands next year. But I cant choose.
10 months in amsterdam or 6 months in utrecht
utrecht is full of students (30.000) and very close to AM.
Im now living in a city with 90.000 students though.
Also it must be so fuckin cold there in the winter.
I've never been to either places.
this is UTRECHT:

Definitely Utrecht. I've actually always wanted to live in Holland... its very appealing to me. Gonna have to learn dutch, though.

Ask henk600 he's dutch and has probably more to say, i'm from Belgium myself and I know a few people that study in Utrecht.
I'd go for Utrecht personally, its really a bruising town of partying students, the openminded Dutch are lovely people. Other then that it's a little bit more south than Amsterdam and it's easy to take the train to surrounding cities (which also bruise of more parties) . What kind of music do you like? Our winters are alright... it's warming up and right now it's 1C outside at 0:00am. Spring and summer is 25-35c, coldest it gets over here is -10c (that was the coldest night of 2010) . Amsterdam people are a bit smug
What exactly are you going to study, what's it called in Dutch? Other then that English is Netherlands second language (funny accent to) most people there can speak it or atleast you will be understood.
Cheers, it'll be a great experience whatsoever you choose

Hahahahahahahahaha
you're going to experience a drug scene like you've never seen before. Depends on what goa/psy you like, over here it's usually divided in acidgoatrance/oldschool which has a very open and laid-back, everybody is on drugs scene and dark (very fast bpm). Ruigoord is HARDCORE . Fucking great squat parties there. I party all around Nederland but a bit more south usually. I've been in ruigoord aswell for goa/acid/core/psy/tekno . All weekend long baby
Lovely studies aswell, I went to an Art school myself but unfortunately due to issues I had to dropout from highschool.
You're going to have the time of your life

Are you doing an english program because the dutch government requires you to be proficient to go to school there.
I applied to school their and barely didn't pass the language requirement, otherwise I would have got in. I am trying again for 2013.

You don't get in the country before you've passed the exam for Dutch yes.
Great policy to keep off too many foreigners, unlike our politicians over here in Belgium (which are severely retarded) whom take in anybody

I know, I am just curious if he is doing it through an exchange program because if you don't then you have to be proficient.
It's pretty hard too. I have been taking dutch for year and half three days a week and spend a couple hours a week on the off days.
You have to be able to understand 90% of what a teacher says in casual language.

Negative, in Amsterdam there are no shrooms to be found. Me and a friend checked everywhere. However roughly 10km from my home there is still one small smartshop in a small town whom sells bars of chocolate (5 pieces) at 20€ per bar which make you
Good times

Damn I didn't know it was that hard . Maar dan begrijp je toch best wel veel van wat ik zeg, of niet dan?
So is Dutch hard to pick up? English was pretty easy I wonder if it's the same for other people with Dutch.

mmm yep thats what I meant. maybe "close to amsterdam" to you means something different than it does to me because I'm in the US and u are in belgium? I just meant perhaps it would be easier to find shrooms in utrecht now?, but really I dont know wtf I'm talking about lol, just got a loose idea of the shroom situation over there atm

You won't find shrooms anywhere in Holland but from growers. I have scouted many cities for them but the only thing you'll get is truffels
Utrecht is closer to that spot where you can find shrooms, yes. But you'll find drugs and shrooms easily if you meet the right people (and there are a lot of right people in Netherlands )

I can order 4-aco-dmt online though.
and yeah it's an exchange program called ERASMUS, and I dont have to know dutch one bit. But maybe I'll have to pass a very tough english exam called TOEFL.
I decided to go abroad mainly to learn and practice my english!

10 months in amsterdam or 6 months in utrecht
So you're choosing between 6 and 10 months, and between cities, right? So if you want to stay 10 months, then you'll have to pick Asmterdam. If you don't care and 6 months suits you as well, then I'd recommend Utrecht. Why? Because there are a lot less annoying tourists in Utrecht, and the vibe is much better (IMO) than Amsterdam. Then again, I'll rarely pass the opportunity to express my loathing for our capital; I think the city and most of its people SUCK. Much of that as to do with the general attitude of the inhabitants of Amsterdamned that the country stops about 6mi. south of Amsterdam, and that civilization only stretches to about 2mi. from the city center. Combine that with the hordes of annoying Spaniards lying drunk & stoned in the middle of the roads, and the general unfriendly attitude of the locals, and the choice becomes obvious: anything _but_ Amsterdam for me. I guess for a foreigner the differences are a lot less pronounced.
Utrecht has the additional advantage that there are actually pretty nice spots of what little nature we have here on cycling distance from the city. The area around villages such as Maartensdijk and Bilthoven makes for good cycling and some light hiking. These spots are on the same side of the city as the university campus, so if you reside on the campus, you'll find yourself on the 'right' side of the city.
